I think the purpose of research quesations is to give them the ability to manipulate the size of the list as they please. If its too small they can make it bigger and vise versa. I think its a joke but obviously they can do whatever they want.
Do you remember what numbers those questions were? Isn't the point of research questions to see if they are good to ask on a future exam? If that's the case they should count for us.
I agree with bigfoot. Just because they were old questions doesn't necessarily mean they are throw outs. I remember from my Sergeant's Exam, some of the questions came from the Key Rewrites. That exam was in 2009, before they had these research questions. I remember specifically the flashlight question and the tattoo question were asked on multiple exams in basically the same form.
Equipment questions and tattoo questions are basic questions that will be asked on almost every test. I wouldnt compare them to the questions that are most likely research on this exam.
I still don't understand why it makes sense to research something that has already been asked. Isn't the point of research to do something that hasn't been done and monitor the results? They already know how students react to those questions since they have been used already.
Ask people who took the Captain's Exams. Some questions are verbatim from prior exams. This is not an NYPD specific phenomenon either. The SAT, LSAT, etc. all have a tendency to copy and paste certain questions verbatim from time to time. It is a standard practice for them, and they're considered easy questions for people who study.
Everyone is assuming they're research, but has anyone given any justification for that assumption? I'm putting my money on those counting, we will see soon enough when we go to the protest.

I'm pretty sure those were the research questions. I believe those were in the most recent Capt exam. However I thought these research questions would be so that DCAS would have a pool of questions for future exams. Has anyone else hear something similar?
