Guy come on with the negative comments.
I know you guys on the 14 list cant wait for your turn but wishing that a list gets cut is bull.
We all worked hard we all deserve that day at 1PP.
I'm really hoping for a nice large class of 75 or so names, being at the ass of this list is really ****ty for a few reasons. As another poster eluded to earlier, he was slated to go in the BMOC in October but was passed over and not told the reason. Now if you are in the last 300 names or so then your chances of clearing up and investigations or open CCRBS are virtually nil. I hope for that poster and for the rest of us that are at the bottom of this list that the department does right by us and closes out our investigations before we get passed over and are killed off when the list is exhausted. What a horrible way this department goes about things, keeping cops in the dark about internal investigations against then whether or not they are on a promotional list or not it just seems unfair and a poor way of conducting business, but alas i regress and look at the liberal existence of New York City and the contempt that the public and politicians hold for those that protect them.
Open CCRBs don't hold you up. Only if you are on force monitoring BECAUSE of those CCRBs can it potentially hold you. You need 3 or more in a year to be put on monitoring.
From what i've been able to gather so far ccrbs don't hold you up unless you have charges pending from the ccrb, open iab investigations only hold you up at the discretion of the investigator in charge of the case. In other words a bs iab case based on a bs allegation by a perp retaliating against an officer for doing his job will only hold you up if the investigator feels it necessary. I am all for iab doing their job and getting rid of the perps on this job but i think it shouldn't take so long to know who's a perp with a badge and who is a good cop just doing his job and some perp who lives off of suing the city makes a bs allegation with no evidence to support his claim, I feel the latter should not hold you up. Unfortunately it seems certain investigators on this job don't know how to differentiate between the two and in the process end up destroying a good cops career. Being on a promotional list and not making it without having done anything wrong is tragic in my opinion it will do irreversible damage to your career. For example if you are on the tail end of this list and get passed over for a bs iab investigation all because you were a good active cop and did not get on the 2013 list, you now have to wait for the next sgts exam then hope to be on the top of the list, it can take years before you get promoted, and by then who knows when the next LT exam will be and so forth. These are some of the issues that really take a toll on the morale of good police officers who love their job and do it well.
Sadly I am exactly that cop you speak of. I wish I could tell you my story but unfortunately that would reveal my identity to Some. I have lost complete faith with this department. my advice to you is have a backup plan in place on the off chance you don't get made. So perhaps it won't be a complete loss. my number has not been called yet but I fear I may be in the same boat as you. So I'm staying active to make sure I can get a CO rec for a detail on the possibility of not getting made. Best of luck to you.

He-man i wrote down the exact list of what holds you up on getting promoted in the other topic. It's a small list. There is no damn discretion of the IAB investigator. If it's a corruption case and the detective has not done all the "mandatory checks and DD5's" then he is forced to keep the investigation open. I.e perp says you stole something and the IAB investigator runs pets and finds the item that was alleged stolen was actually vouchered for forfeiture proceedings. One DD5 and case closed. If that's not the case there is a whole list of things to do. I know this because chief reznik was my old boss in OCCB before he went to IAB.
The whole thing about investigators discretion in regards to promotion has been told to me by several people I know who have worked for IA. Unless things have changed. The case stays open but you get promoted, I actually know of people on this list who claim to have been promoted with open iab cases.

You can get promoted with an open IAB case. It really depends on the totality of your involvement in the case. If your held up and dont know why then this is more then likley why.
Your right about the IAB investigator. They will get a call from EMD asking them if you have any open inbestigations if they say yes they have the option of saying he's good to get promoted but the investigation will continue. If it ends up being serious down the line they will demote you if needed. This is a fact
All the guys that live in Brooklyn and Manhattan obviously sabotaged the floor j/k
Obviously the NYPD has not learned that quality work does not come from the lowest bidder. The new 121 precinct had a million deficiencies that needed repairing before it opened up.
Does anyone know how many sgt vacancies there are right now?
I started this thread a long time ago... Guys and gals in the 2011 Lieutenant's list.. check on it several times a week but it seems like people who are in the know do not want to share vital information with us.

And this was my "in the know" response on the thread you started in Sept. 2013:
"Unfortuately, the amount of sergeants allotted is not a set number for the Dept like Lts and Capts. It is a ratio of cops to sergeants and changes. Therefore, no one could accurately post how many Sgt vacancies there are. The amount of Sgts on Terminal Leave can be found though..."
I see someone has been paying attention lol its nice to hear from u cookie... Dont take it personal... I took into consideration and was well aware of what u told me regarding sgt vacacies.... but with all due respect I think ur missing the whole point here, which is US (2011 sgt test) not having any information at all.. including Sgts on terminal.. Now if u could enlighten us a lil it will be well appreciated.

It does suck not having any info while you're waiting. I was you guys 8 years ago, when I was waiting to get promoted. Unfortunately, I am no longer working in an "in the know" spot, so I don't have the access to get you guys numbers anymore. Hang in there. I know it's dragging and seems like torture right now, but it really will be here before you know it.

Yeah, yesterday Ng said no word yet. He would find out by the end of next week or beginning of the following.
I know that doesn't seem like much but he said he would let us know so we could get the word out.
