Heard from someone, that knows some one at 1 PP, next class towards the end of December 2014. Can anyone confirm or is it too early?

I actually heard they were contemplating increasing the number getting promoted on Monday but it isn't happening. I can definitely see another class before the year ends.

Keep it going, I can see top group from 2014 list getting promoted before the last group of 2013 list. Isn't it funny.

I was just discussing that with a friend.  Very realistic possibility.

§ 60. Certification of eligible lists. 1. Certification of eligibles
from prior list. When an eligible list has been in existence for less
than one year and contains the names of less than three persons willing
to accept appointment, and a new list for the same position or group of
positions is established, the names of the persons remaining on the old
list shall have preference in certification over the new list until such
old list is one year old, and during such period such names shall be
certified along with enough names from the new list to provide the
appointing officer with a sufficient number of eligibles from which
selection for appointment may be made. Where an old list which has been
in existence for one year or more is continued upon the establishment of
a new list which contains less than three names, the civil service
department or a municipal commission may certify the names on the old
list along with enough names from the new list to provide the appointing
officer with a sufficient number of eligibles from which selection for
  appointment may be made.

I keep on hearing a class approximately every three months.  So that puts one around Christmas time.

I know the answer is probably somewhere in this forum, but on average how many captains get made a year, or is it completely random?

Between 60-80 per year (an average) captain's promotions. There may be captain's promotion at the end of November.

For what it is worth early word says 23 Lieutenants on Friday December 5th and 12 Captains on Monday January 5th. Anyone hear the same? I would assume that is the end of December class rumored about just pushed back after the holidays.

A question for WannaBe-With the pending elimination of housing and narcotics they would then be under the patrol services bureau/p.c.t umbrella. If they eliminate all housing commands, (p.s.a's, housing boro's, housing i.r.t's, housing bureau etc then all housing mos will go to patrol commands. I would assume that all the inspectors, deputies, captains, lieutenants, sergeants etc would go to the patrol boros and precincts which would lead to extra personnel. The c.o of p.s.a 1,2,3,4 etc would not be out a job of course but would not have anywhere to go in reality. The x.o of p.s.a 1,2,3,4 etc would not lose their job but would have no where to go until a p.c.t x.o spot opened up. Same with all the platoon commanders and so on. I know the commands may add an extra x.o here and there to compensate for the extra responsibility and personnel. Same with the lieutenants and sergeants but there is not going to 2 c.o's, 2 x.o's, 2 i.c.o's 2 daytour platoon cmdr etc. I know there is only 9 p.s.a's but then when you add all the narco chiefs, inspectors, captains, etc things will be crowed until spots open up. I know some of this brass will be needed now at the precinct level.

My point is with an ''Extra'' 6 chiefs, 8 inspectors, 15 D.I's, 27 Captains, 101 Lieutenants, and 302 Sergeants would not that effectively nullify most promotions for about 6 months or so?

Yes i am aware they may create P.B.B.X North and P.B.B.X South which would swallow up some of the brass.

Don't look like Housing is going away. Secreto is getting promoted Monday and will be Chief of Housing.
