The day before the exam.

Explain to me the rules in regards to taking a promotional exam. When the test is scheduled for Saturday and you work a 1920-0417 shift like I do, wouldn't I be excused at 0000 hours? How does this work? On the 2011 sgt exam I took the last few weeks off.

1920 start isn't considered a midnight if I'm recalling correctly. That would mean they could make you come in, but have to let you take lost time by 2400.

You are excused from 2000 the night before until 2000 the day of the test. In your case you would work 40 minutes day before, and get 40 minutes are the arm test day. Try to see if you could bang out the 40 minutes the night before at least. Depending on where you are they might let you bang out test day as well, but don't hold your breath!

1st and 2nd Platoon are excused on Saturday (You still need to hand a 28 for roll call to properly code it in so you don't get charged for the day). All other tours (3rd Platoon, 4th Platoon, etc,) are excused at 2000 hours Friday night until 2000 hours Saturday night where you must finish the remainder of your tour from that point. For example 3rd Platoon would come in at their normal 1500 hours on Friday night, be excused at 2000 hours, but would have to come back in at 2000 hours Saturday night and stay until 2335 hours to finish the remainder of the tour they were excused for.
