I am surprised there isn't a thread on an August BMOC.
Anyone believe there won't be another down month and they'll push this list fast ??
I think there will be more down months and we will see the 11 list exhaust by May 2015 but others think itll be much sooner than that. What do you guys think ?
I've been on this site forever I think I've checked it everyday for the past 2 years. I just realized this wtf

I've been a Sgt for two years and I still check often! Now it's to see how many new guys I can get under me at the precinct! We got two recently, plus a transferred Sgt and still need two more!

For those that already made Sgt. I know they can mess with your vaca picks you picked as a cop...but do they really do this ? I am assuming if you had a trip booked they wouldnt touch it ?
Depends on the admin LT. We were about to have our second child when I got promoted. He gave me crap because she was due during the middle of the summer. "You've only been here a month." I laughed at him and took an extra week anyway. I got promoted with 10 years on, he wasn't dealing with a rookie. Now he calls me for CRV every other week. Who won that battle?
Does any one have any insight on the size of the remaining classes for the 2011 list. Do you think there going to keep up the 50-55, or maybe go up to 60's or maybe 70's?
Yes there is. But this job is based on fake fear... the unknown ...and keeping the grunts out of the loop. There is no reason why this board should exist to speculate and start rumors. Do u think Boston or LA does this nonsense ? Most likely not .... Because they treat their men and women like men and women. Bet their rules for promotion are cut and dry. Like when where how and what sandwich to bring

I know Semp mentioned that he believes the average rate of promotions will continue, but I honestly cant see that happening all though it definetely can. This is the longest list in a while and if it goes until May it would be the longest lasting list since a passing grade and the 13 list would have been held for a year. The 09 list did not wait more than about 7 months I believe.
Maybe its just me being hopeful but I see them pushing through this list a bit faster.
I cant believe there are no rumors as to an August BMOC yet!
I would have to agree with semp on a larger aug class. I'm basing that solely on the numbers. There were/ are 23 sgt retirements thru july 2014 and another 17 set to retire in aug plus 28 lt's getting made at the end of july. That alone puts you at 68, but about 4 were promoted up front on the last class that would go into this class.
I know the job does what the job wants to do but just looking at the raw numbers it looks like (in my opinion) it should be a larger class

The 09 test was taken feb 2009. Didnt promote until oct 2010. It doesn't matter how long the list grades from DCAS were in people's possessions. It took them almost 2 years to start promoting from that test. This dept, and dcas do not care how long people wait to get promoted. It's not their concern how long a new list waits. Why would it be? No logical answer.

SEMP, first they can give a test and promote off of it 5 years later. That's an exaggeration, but you get what I am saying. When the test is given does not matter. It is when the list is released that counts, that's when that "4 year" clock starts ticking. When the 09 list was released, correct me if I am wrong, but the 08 only had like 200 names and the 09 list started promoting about 7 months later. Not a year, like everyone keeps stating. With this list, we got over 500 names left and at normal rates, 1 year or more of promotions if things go really slow!
Second, I am pretty sure DCAS has nothing to do when people get promoted, that's based on the DEPT's needs and they decide. With that being said, it has been made clear that the PC needs more SGT's, so that's one reason I see this list moving a big quicker. On top of that, can you honestly see this list being held FOR A YEAR OR MORE? Because at this rate, it can very well pass a year. I don't see that happening. Has any list ever been held a year or more?
Realistically, and by previous rates, May 2015 seems logical, but even you have stated ( I think?) that you can't go off past averages etc, so all I am saying, the possibility of them "pushing" this list a bit faster isn't far fetched.
That's all! That and I am just being really optimistic. :)
The Dept put the finest for the Feb 2009 list out in March 2010 I believe. The 2008 test last class was Oct/Nov 2010 in which it was combined with the first 2009 class. That's 8 months from when the Dept officially recognized and issued a new list that the old list was exhausted. Has the Dept actually put a list through finest out for the 2013 test? I honestly don't know. It hasn't concerned me enough to check. I was under the impression it was just letters from DCAS, and I might be slightly mistaken about this part but from what it seemed was DCAS only released the scores because they leaked in the chief. Similar to them releasing the 2011 LT answer key earlier than they wanted.

The clock doesn't start when the test is released it's when the first person is promoted.
The clock starts ticking when the list is published ? Where are people getting their info from? Queensfinest is right, the clock starts ticking when the 1st person is promoted off the list.

The clock doesn't start when the test is released it's when the first person is promoted.
The clock starts ticking when the list is established not when the first cop gets promoted. Make no mistake right now there are 2 active lists for the rank of Sergeant.
You can go to the DCAS website and verify it.

If you cant make it to work during a LIRR strike then you shouldnt be on this job. I'm sure as hell making it through BMOC even if my travels have to be inconvenient.
Wow the nonsense of this site.... The list is terminated 4 years after the first promotion. That's end of story. Use the 06 lt test as an example. Exactly 4 years to date after the first class went in....
And the LIRR strike has no bearing on the job needing to replace sgts!
I think he's trying to say the dept doesn't kill lists. It let's it go the legal maximum amount of allotted time usually. The DCAS guidelines about the legal duration of a list can be followed these guidelines aren't necessarily always followed. For example if a list is available this job rarely kills the old list. At least as of recent.

Its not about making it to Manhattan if there is a strike. Theres dozens of ways to get there. Its about the Job not putting in a class because of the strike. They never put a class in if something big is going on, i.e. hurricane Sandy. They skipped that month because of everything that was happening. Obviously that was beyond catastrophic, but the job is not going to voulentarily waste the manpower of 50 or so people if they don't have to.
I can't believe people are concerning themselves about a strike that has not yet happened for a BMOC that has not even yet been announced .... How about we focus in the main goal of this forum and discuss if anyone has valuable information related to the next class ....
