Ouwf, made it. Scored a 70 so was looking at the list in the low 70s, didn't see my name and my heart dropped. Then realized my time gives me xtra points and saw my name up there at 78. Really psyched, congrats to all who passed.
I actually went down 2 points from my protest answers.
Not possible. Doesn't work that way.
Hah, I'm not lying. Had an 81 on my answer sheet, should have gotten 5.6 or whatever in time on job points and only ended up with an 84.Blahblah. May have erased poorly on a couple of changes on the scantron that were marked wrong. I wonder if I can appeal that by requesting a copy of the scantron and showing them what the intent was. Sounds like 'hanging chad' type stuff, but those two points would move me up about 60 spots. I'll look into it more when I get the postcard thing from DCAS.

Perhaps you (or DCAS) calculated the medal points incorrectly.
Make the list 930. Another name on that list is on the 2011 list and is going into BMOC soon. Wonder how many more there are like that? 2011 passers who took the 2013 test just to play it safe.
Your not going to figure it out. Best way is to get your scantron and check the answers but we all have a lot of time. Your looking at 9-10 months before they consider this list. Just relax and enjoy looking at this forum for the next year or two!! Lol
there were at least 3 throwouts/double answers...knew someone who came out of the protest sesion with a 68 who ended up with a 71 before seniority points etc...which ones who knows
I am in no way wishing for any list to be cut... And for many of my friends who are on the 2011, I am hoping that they get their time in the sun. As a veteran and currently in the 2013 list the 2011 WILL NOT BE CUT. Many veterans were waiting for this piece of legislature to pass and it did..There will be a huge exodus of veterans once the governor signs this. Once the exodus starts, the upper ranks will thin out and an urgency in promotion will begin. This is the reason Why..
LARKIN BUYBACK LEGISLATION FOR VETERANS PASSES SENATE
Allows Veterans to Purchase Up To Three Years Of Service Credit in the NYS Retirement System
Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) announced today that Senate bill S7839 passed the Senate unanimously. This legislation institutes a mechanism for veterans to purchase service credit for their time in the military. The bill language eliminates the requirement that members must have served during specific periods of war or in a specific combat theater and allows all honorably discharged veterans to purchase up to three years of credit for their military service.
We have been working very hard to craft a bill that will allow our veterans to purchase up to three years of their service in the military, said Senator Larkin. I am pleased that we have been able to close the loophole that prevented our service men and women from getting credit for their service to our country.
The legislation has had overwhelming support from labor and veterans groups across the state and has been sent to the Assembly for action.
Additional Information:
1. This military service credit buyback bill amends current statutes and permits combat veterans of wars that are not currently covered (including Somalia, Bosnia, and Afghanistan), wartime veterans of time periods not currently covered (including Desert Storm), and the weirdly excluded post-1975 Cold War veterans to buy back up to three years of their honorable service.
2. Beyond the arbitrary and outdated nature of current law, current law also blatantly and shamefully discriminates against women. Because women were banned from combat during most of our past conflicts, many women veterans are now ineligible for military service credit.
3. The military service credit buyback bill is vital because it removes the arbitrary, artificial, and outdated restrictions in current law; repairs the discriminatory effect of current law on female veterans; and recognizes the invaluable service and sacrifice of all NY's honorably discharged veterans to our nation and state.
My opinion is that the list is not going to get cut... with cops being put back on patrol from their administrative spots, attrition, and new hires, it's pretty hard to see why they wouldn't hire at a more accelerated rate with the lists they have... but again that's my opinion and basically means nothing lol
Is moving up 60 spots that important to you? Who cares.
Of course it should be important to him. It's seniority. Vacation seniority and rank seniority.
Yes it is important as that'd put me in two, possibly three months sooner. I also had a side bet with a guy in my command who did better than me. I think I figured it out though. The NOE states the seniority points are applied based on when the police officer position became permanent, not the hire date. I'm assuming that means when I got off probation. If that's true then the math looks good. Bought the ticket, now just waiting for the train.
