Well let's look at what is rather than what may be. If your in the upper 60's or even low 60's and hoping to pick up one or nine of these ''confirmed'' throw-outs what do you do about the next test? Elite-Startegic begins march 30th and if we are going to pass the next one we better get going. We can all hold on to hope, trust me im with you. We have gotten extremely lucky that a second chance is right around the corner on 9-13-14. We know from taking 4500 that it is not going to be easy and need to hit the books harder than before, but how long can you wait to start. Naturally many are waiting for the list to come out to see if they made it which makes perfect sense but the guru's on this board will tell you that it can take a long time for that list to come out. They still have between 22-25 left on the 2012 list which is good for 2 classes. Either way they are good for a few months. My earlier predictions on the dates of promotions did fall through due in part to that 6 month gap. Let's say they put in a class of 12 in the end of april then wait 2-3 months and finsh off the list in the end of june or july. Chances are the 2013 list would be released in August or September before they are ready to put in a fall class with the eligible magnificent 57. Would that give those of us who are waiting to study enough time? If that is the case then we passed on this great opportunity and have to wait for the next next test.

Upper 60's+I will wait for the list to come out before i waste $719 on the course+Push to comes to shove i will use last year's material, it hasn't changed that much anyway=Blown save opportunity on the 2014 Test.

Anyway i got to go my friend's cousin's uncle who works on the 19th floor of 1 P.P is on the other line says 1 of 7 doubles is actually a triple.

How come when I was in school and took a test on a scan tron I knew whether I passed or failed by the end of class, but with the City it takes 5-6 months? (and it is not like there are thousands of people taking this test)

It is only within city governance that the length and manner of a process like this okay. Remember, we still disseminate hard copies of the list. If you get an e-mailed copy of the list, it's only because of somebody's personal initiative. How much do we pay a cop to staple these lists together?

You won't see the first group from the 2013 exam get made until the end of 2013/beginning of 2014...but the list will be out soon

Does anybody actually have the answer key - including the proposed through - outs and double answers? I suspect that some of you have "inside information" and "friends in high places", lol. But I am just a "patrol drone", 2nd plt commander in one of many precincts. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

I am a big fan of Elite. I think Mike is the best instructor out there. However, there was not alot of people there (at least for the first day) But it did start at 1330, so it was kind of mid tour and maybe people (who do 3rd platoon) could not make it. but it will move to 1130 after three weeks though.

I called DCAS earlier in the week. They were no help whatsoever. All they told me was that it takes between six months to year to establish a list. So that means, it is possible we will not know the results of the 2013 test until after the 2014 test is given. Unbelievable.

I doubt D.C.AS will be any help going foward, but RECENT history has shown that the ''new'' list will be released after the final class goes in from the previous list. Think back to your Sergeants and Lieutenants lists. I haven't seen two ''active'' lists out at the same time recently. I know that just because it is out doesnt make it active. I know Yano said he thinks the list will be released before the filing period (May) for the September 2014 exam. But at the end of the day he does not know D.C.A.S any better than us.

With 2 classes left on the current list, If you do the math the last class from the 2012 may not go in till after the summer (1 in late may or june and 1 in late august/september). Then the 2013 list wil be released. It will be cuting it close for sure.

Its 2 classes. Typical capt class is 10 to 12 people, with an average of 3 to 4 months between classes. Our first class may not be until next February.

Agreed...you probably get one group in the summer, one in the fall.....
And then our list starts early 2015.

Hopefully Mike Yanosik is right and we at least see a list by the filing period. If they don't have one by then, they'll have even fewer people sign up for it than last time.

Yep, I second. When the 2011 Lt exam list first came out they forgot to add in the fitness points.

I got an email from the LBA today and it said they reached out to DCAS and the Deputy Comiss of Personnel about the new exam coming out and the list not being published from 4500. They said the list from 4500 will be published before the end of the filing period for the upcoming Captains exam in September. The filling period ends May 27th. For all its worth....

I read the same thing. Just to clarify, they are, and this is key, "attempting" to get DCAS to release this list before the filing period ends. So, unless I misread it that means that it may not be released by then at all.

Rumor Alert!!!!!
The following is just rumor only- ''The list will be released on May 7th''.

I actually don't think its true but figured i would pass it along. To see if anyone heard the same.

I think the list will be released during the 3 month time span of when the last class from the 2012 list goes in (september 2014) and the first class from our list goes in (January 2015).

It seems like they are going to have multiple years worth of captain eligibles with 21 remaining on the 2012 test plus a full stable of 2013 eligibles. Im suprised they are giving another test in September. They wouldnt need to pull from that list for a very long time. Maybe till 2016 or beyond.

Just to show you how good i am with predictions, i predict wannbecaptain will post ''You're full of shyt'' next.

Nothing against you but these rumors (from anyone) are no longer credible. I have yet to see one be true yet. That includes ones that I have heard and posted.

You also said 25 people were on the list....then 44...then 57. You're all over the place. No one knows when the list is getting released. More than likely it will be prior to the filing period ending for the next exam (May 7th-27th). Yanosik has stated this and the LBA said the same in their email.
