As much as I want to get promoted, I hate wishing away time. We are in the prime of our lives. There will come a day when you will wish for just another minute, never mind a whole year!
If someone keeps a source private...they're full of ****. If they hint at the source then they're lying. Lol, u can't win. It's better to just not say anything I guess....Your right. Everything is all good. No worries.
I'd agree. I think that's a pretty good assessment. That's giving average size classes with a few down months. Anyone that claims to know something about the longevity of the list whether or not it dies is full of it. Nobody knows anything, common sense tells you the 2011 list goes through. And no, I highly doubt the 2013 test will get thrown out.
If they weren't planning to cut the 211 list, then why give another test in 2013??? From 2011-2015 would be a long wait for the people on the 2011 list and a long wait for the 2013 list.
In reality all DCAS owes to those that passed a test it's a year. In any case I hope they go thru the 2011 list quick since they can't even establish the 2013 until they are done with that list or decide to cut it short .
If they started promoting people from the 09 test in 2011 then that must have been a very short list since they started promoting from the 2011 test in mid 2012.

1600+ people doesn't compare to the 2009. That's twice as much. My prediction, and I'm not hating on the 2011 people, is that that list is going to get anahilated in June or July and another sgts test will be given around February of 2015 like they used to do. There was a test every year with shorter lists.
There was a freeze in the hiring process in 08 and and 09 resulting in a smaller work force. You only need 1 sgt per every 8 cops. Less cops = less need for sgts which equals a slower hiring rate. That is not the case in 2014. The last hired class was almost 1200 cops. What's the forum's take on all this sht???
Yes but regardless, they didn't need to give an 09 exam they could have waited later due to the freeze but guess what? They gave the test anyway and people were speculating that they would kill the 08 list because as you phrased it earlier "why would they give another test if they had a large list of people still waiting?" The reality is that the 09 test takers faced a significantly longer wait while the city did the RIGHT thing and promoted down the 08 list once the freeze ended. They didn't have to do that but they did. History leans on the side of promoting down the entire list and not cutting it. That's straight out of the history books. The last lists to die were lists generated with no 70 passing score and massive amounts of "passers" (ie. people getting made to SGT with a 55 score.) For the record, I'm not even on the '11 list, I passed the '13 exam so if anything it would be in my best interest for them to cut the '11 list but being a rational person, I just don't see them cutting it.
I just want the official results I am 6 away hoping I did have some protests but not six I here new rumors everyday almost if not this time ill study better and harder next time lets go 2014 and may there be a test 2015.

List isn't getting cut. List activation was May 1st 2012. Phase 1 went up to 1413 In Dec. The dept doesn't invest money in "training" with out return. Also list is at 952 as of now. It is on track to be finished in january 2015. Which is a less than a 3 year list by many months. Lastly the 2013 list is rumored to be less than 500 names. There will not be a lot of throw outs since the 100 the test was judged on were straight forward. Legally they are not allowed to just throw out questions to create a bigger list (sorry guys). The 2013 list is too small to do anything relevant with when it comes to filling spots (vacant from promotions, retirees, etc.) It further solidified the 2011 list, not that it ever was a problem. Not one list on this job has been cut since passing grades were implemented. Mark my words list is goong all the way.

Dude, have you heard of periods and commas and proper spelling? Jesus Christ.
I am also waiting for the official results. I asked this before, but didn't really get a clear answer...one person said 90 days after the protest, and SEMP1 (I believe) said that was incorrect, so does anyone know?
This is the only type of exam that you have to wait so long to get a damn grade. It's so frustrating.
As i recall i got my offical results within weeks of the list coming out. I believe the list was out before i got my offical score
No. The list has your official score on it. The list and your official score go hand in hand. They come out as one. Always has been this way. Never any different. And your official results do not come for months. The only thing that came out a few weeks later was the proposed official answer key from DCAS.

I found out my grade at the protest session... Then I added my points for medals and longevity and it was like magic.... Now if you are saying that you initially failed and now want to see if you passed due to some throw outs then that's a different story... I say first week in April.
I found out my grade at the protest session as well. I added my points for longevity and I should be in the first couple of classes. But I am not satisfied, I want an official grade in my hands. It sucks that it takes this long.
Romeo It definitely is not a guarantee that you passed. Anyone who applies for Military Credit will be asked to prove it. I know many guys who went with the proper documentation when asked and they failed in the long run. Good luck
The reason why I feel this way, is because, unlike the 2011 test, which I failed with a 68, I DID NOT receive such letter from DCAS. The test is already graded and DCAS is finalizing the final grade by incorporating longevity, medals, and veterans points to the final score.
With the large attrition rate that department is going through right now, the department is loosing far more bosses than anticipated. The new regime adds to these loses. As more chiefs are force to retirement more inspectors are promoted, more captains are promoted to inspectors, more lieutenants are promoted to captains and more sergeants are needed to replace those lieutenants. This list will be out sooner than normally anticipated.
If DCAS is aking you to verify your veterans status, that means you passed. They don't bother asking you for proof when you fail. They need to tally up the points, and that's when you get the letter to verify the veteran's points.
