1 - probable double answer as PG does not speak to specifics and two answers are possible and proper; 3 - possible, but unlikely, double depending on interpretation of what fits definition; 10 - very probable throwout due to fact that actual proper answer is absent and 'correct' answer not the most correct choice; 11 - probable throwout, possible double as both convievable correct choices are seriously flawed; 12 - possible throwout as the correct answer is completely unclear per questions limited info; 26 - possible double as the correct choice conflicts with various steps/info in same procedure; 28 - probable double answer, 2 proper choices listed; 29 - probable throwout as its a subjective question resulting in many proper answers; 32 - weak possible double as two choices are proper, although one is 'better' per procedure tested; 37 - probable throwout as 'correct' choice involves two completely flawed statements: one tests duties above rank of capt, one is totally wrong and improperly worded per PG; 39 - probable double as two choices are proper for question; 41 - not testable per noe; 42 - elements of the questions answers are worded improperly and words are absent which result in 2 'incorrect' statements; 54 - improper wording for 'correct' choice. Possible throwout; 58 - throwout as there are a multitude of errors in spelling, structure and continuity; 60 - throwout as answers all misworded and not proper per PG; 61 - probable double as 2 choices can be proper

65 - not at all relevant to capt; 68 - probable double as two proper choices listed; 78 - improper procedure referenced, answers not found in procedure noted; 80 - not testable per noe; 86 - 'correct' choice is missing key word necessary for it to be correct, probable throwout; 87 - throwout, 'correct' choice has the most improper and glaring error for subject matter of question; 93 - throwout, "correct' answer improper per PG, CPL, PL and all applicable common sense; 94 - throwout argued as questions answers are all seriously flawed and no correct answer exists...double argued as two answers are somwhat proper although significantly flawed.

Look these over, see if you have any incorrect. These have, or will be vigorously protested. If you want specifics on these, text, call or email. This should be a comprehensive list, all arguments presented are very valid. Not up for debate or criticism or comment outside as i have concluded the validity. Anything to add email frankjurs@aol.com

In your best guesstimate...How many questions will be thrown out completly and how many will be double answers...could you realistically say that 20 questions combined is a reality???
In your best guesstimate...How many questions will be thrown out completly and how many will be double answers...could you realistically say that 20 questions combined is a reality???
In my humble opinion, 20 is unrealistic. I believe there will be a maximum of 3 changes. I would not be surprised if there is 1 or no changes.
Well done as always J-Man, Now those in the 65+ range can see what we have wrong compared to this. Lew bookman you must be able to pick up 1 of these to make it to 70. Of course these are just the questions we are hoping for. There could be alot less but with J-Man on the case we will get the max...''irregardless'' (as they said on the 2011) if its 20 or 1. Until then we will be in abeyance.
these test writers attempted to rewrite elements of the guide in their own artistic interpretation. In their quest for confusion they paraphrased and changed items often making unarguable mistakes, ommisions and forcing the test taker to make thier own interpretaion of the answer. This was done in many questions rendering them invalid and in many answer choices making nothing correct. The way a straight forward exam is written is by taking the exact phrase from the guide without rearranging the words, ommitting words or entering synonyms that are out of place.
*The following made up questions that will illustrate a point that needs to be stressed.
Question: what umos maintains a file of completed photocopied Police Accident Reports, by the month in which the accident occurs, for a minimum of one year, in a secure locked cabinet?
A. Traffic Safety Officer B. Training Sgt. C. Planning Officer D. Desk Officer
The only answer is A. This question cannot be protested successfully as its direct from PG and intact.
*The following made up question shows the problems caused when test writers with the goal of confusing the test taker are the goal over testing content
Question: you are Captain Stiggity, x/o of the 234 th Precinct, while doing an inspection of the stationhouse you realize that there are boxes of police accident reports only 2 months old scattered in the hallway. Realizing these reports need to be secured in a locked cabnit you decide to address this deficiency. With whom is it most proper to address this with?
A. Traffic Safety Officer B. ICO C. Desk Officer D. Traning Sgt
The answer to this question is subjective, non specific, and not dictated by any procedure. Its a judgment question and all choices could be correct.
So to answer your question, if you pay attention to how terrible these questions were written many protests can be made quite convincingly like the 2011 Lt test the sky is the limit. Every question # i posted is worth a protest. My guess is 10-15 changes although more are possible.

You were wise to make stiggy the x.o in that question. We need to be nice to him so he returns to the forum. He is a subject matter expert. He will know before hand how many and which questions were protested.
You're grasping at straws j man. The test was hard. To sit on this board and profess that there will be 15 changes is giving people false hope. There's someone on here that wants to protest #1!!! Give me strength.
You guys need to take a step back and take a deep breath. There will be no more than 2-3 changes if any, this test was hard-not flawed.
why? Because you said so? Look at the 11 Lt or 10 capt, what happened there? Between those two tests 35 questions were tossed and both exams were superior to this one. Contribute to protest or beat it. No need for your opinion.

Hahaha. You're a funny guy. This entire board is based on opinion and rumor. Because mine differs from yours I am the recipient of animosity? Ok dude. Good luck with the protest.
Your opinion isn't contributing to anything productive, encouraging people to quit. there are potentially 100s of Lts on the cusp of passing that need a few of these ridic questions invalidated. Lemme guess you got a 71?
My opinion may help a few people get promoted. The test was a fukshow full of problems and arguments. The entire test should be nulified

Granted some of J-Man's protests may be stronger than others, but lets see what happens. Im sure J-Man knows that he wont be successful in all his protests and some are stronger than others.
The Detective took the same test we did and is certainly entitiled to his own opinion.
I think You may agree J-Man that you did not know how flawed the test was until you went to the protest and re-read it with the answers in front of you.
Many guys and gals who passed may have simply walked in the protest at 0930 checked their answers and left. Maybe the Scantron Detector was one of those guys who got an 83, realized he is the top 5 and walked out at 0945. The Scantron Detective may not be in the magnificent 25 but rather the top 3 with stiggity and i got u babe.
In fact im going to start a numerical list
1-i got u babe from NBBN-87
2-stiggity1 x.o of the 234th p.c.t-85
3-scantron detective of d.c.a.s-83
4-the guy from the enterprise who said you dress like vin diesel-81
The magnificent 25 has every right to laugh at the borderline intelligence of the other 361. They passed we didn't. Bottom line. But us guys in the 60's are pulling for you. There is a very good chance that we are going to have to give up another 6 months of our lives and lives of our family for the September exam. Traveling up to some shady motel in yonkers on our r.d.o to pay Yanosik for a magical red book, fighting Yankee game traffic in the dog days of summer. All to try to get less than 30 questions wrong. The magnificent 25 are the same guys who got a 95 and 94 on their sgt and Lt test. And many of them squeaked by with a 72 on this one. So where does that leave me and you J-Man. Now get back to writing those protests!!!!!!!!
With the exception of the urinal guy/Jman, I hope most of you guys make the list and get the points you need.
I also dont mind if they throw the entire exam out as Jman suggested. I will beat him by 30 points next time instead of 20. I would actually study this time.
Some may be strong some may be weak, based on what i see they are pretty solid arguments. Thats for the reviewers to decide not me, if it were up to me the test would be invalidated. many of the present and some future captains I know are only in that position pursuant to the 20 question tossed out in 2011 and 15 in 2010; so the protests obviously work when presented properly. I realized the test was fuked when I sat for it. The protest session increased that belief ten fold having five hours to dismantle the exam next tonthe Pg and Ag. Speaking to another 50 or so Lts who noticed so many more problems than me only solidified it. Justthefacts, dont start calling the passers superior. Its not that kind of exam. There are guys much more inteligent and better educated than me sitting in the 50's. Then I know guys that are barely able to form a sentance in the 70s. This is an exam that measures free time much more than intellect.

gunz you probably will outscore me on any nypd exam; its obvious you have alot more free time to study as do most guys lacking a social life, women and other distractions. CAPT F., don't forget, you came on this job when I was in high school and are at least six years older. I was at my jr prom the year you were studying for sgt.

I was boxed out of an earlier exam that set me and a few others back but im not an excuse maker like you are. Your way off with your opinion of me and my personal life but thats fine because thats what you do. Your a whiner and an excuse maker .
I was a 26 year old sgt and 28 year old Lt...gunz what were you doing at 28? Standing on the muster deck? Impact? I can take ten years off and still be just fine....

J man, the passing as a result of free time rather than intellect comment is absolute horse ****. i studied my ass of in any ounce of free time i could find; i work in an A house and my real house is filled with an insane toddler and a screaming new born. Additionally most of those i know who also passed were in less than ideal situations- so do me and those of us who broke our asses a favor- keep your conjecture to your long shot protests as now you are starting to sound like an edp.

if you passed then it is obvious you worked hard for it, congratulations to you. But way more than 25 out of 400 people studied their asses off, dedicated all their free time in less than ideal situations and spent very real money on classes that did not pass. Failure was not the result of intellect. I know guys on here with real educations and degrees and a high level of aptitude that are in the 50s and 60s. A test with a passing rate of 6% shows that the test is defective, not the students. Students are meant to pass. Guys like you are meant to score Iin the 90s....but I bet you're in the 70s. No exam - the nys bar, the qualifying exam for doctors - nothing has a pass rate so low.

There is no way Jman is 29 .....he was eating well in every command he worked in...... guess he didnt take advantage of doing the jst/1.5 mile run for those extra points
I didn't leave Just....and I was never insulted. I didn't wanna turn the board into an immature pissing match. Was also busy with the kids and Christmas shopping all weekend. If I get some solid info after the tvb I'll post it. A lot of your posts are very classy Just. You're a voice of reason in this forum. Kudos.

I am not 29, I turned 30 in October. I didn't eat well as a cop bc I worked midnights and nothing was open, as a sgt I worked in a command where you couldn't find food for 20 miles, and now as a Lt I eat very well. While we're discussing me, a topic i love, I'd like to add that I am a prime physical specimen who recieved points for the run on each exam. Maybe I will actually need them this time. Secondly i usually compete in the nypd memorial 5k and run for a fallen cop. I am an avid weightlifter, snazzy dresser, and have a gorgeous symetrical face. Ive probably spent more time at tact meetings than you on the street. And just think, I have 21 more years to go.

we can run each others tax numbers but i wouldnt want to embarrass you ....all those 511s and DUI's dont really count ....and im sure you really had a lot of input in those meetings.....im sure one of the cops was like "hey bald ******* just sit in the office when we get a body we will call you "
You can run my tax anytime, private message me yours. Don't forget I was only a cop 4.5 years, in a slow pct and i stil tore it up. How long were you a cop 8, 10, 12 years? And my hair is sexy, thick and lusterous.

J-Man talking about your symetrical biceps will only make them post a photo of you and alter it and you will end look like me after giving birth to my boys.
lol lol. Whether someone was a cop for 4.5 years or got 3 stripes in 15 years or made a cpt in 10 years, doesnt mean jack sh**t at the end of the day all ranks across are still severely underpaid civil servants. we live in a financial capital of the world where Wall street is the biggest powerhouse. A 25 year old SFA at any investment bank makes double on salary alone and has your pct CO with medals up his ears dance waltz in front of stock exchange bigwigs(saw it with my own eyes how one bureau chief acted like a school kid conversing with cfo of one firm)
-- Edited by sig226 on Saturday 28th of December 2013 04:13:05 AM
I'm not trying to start a fight here, but I think you might be a little mistaken.
First off I'm not sure what a "SFA" is? I think you might mean "CFA" which is certified financial advisor, which as far as positions go is a dime a dozen, I used to be one for a large firm. They'll sign anyone up for the position at the smaller firms, because you work almost wholly on commission at least to start. Most CFA's go no where near wall street, and certainly never enter the stock exchange, thats a totally different job (and the gentleman that trade on the floor are not paid particularly well, don't get me wrong, they are not starving, they're just not rich by any means). A CFA makes as much as he or she can sell, and to be honest most make a decent living grinding it out on their stomach day in and day out. It's constant sales and client calls and meetings, not back breaking work, but it takes a lot of connections and ass kissing and luck to be a top CFA.
Basically put I'm sure a few 25 year old CFA's make double what the pct CO makes, but the vast majority of them and definately those outside of the big name houses (like a CFA at AXA, or edward jones, or the like) would have to work VERY hard to out earn a top pay cop making a lot of overtime. Trust me I was there, I did well, But I out earn my 25 year old self by leaps and bounds.
SFA=senior financial analyst.
Since you worked at one of the large firms perhaps you should know how much they make at hedge funds and i-banks(ms, gs, db etc)
salary alone -close to 200k. not including stock options and bonus.
Listen I'm not trying to argue with you, I'm just trying to say that all in the financial world is not peaches and cream anymore. With online brokerage firms the need for an advisor or analyst has diminished, and these guys aren't killing it anymore. It's not an easy job, if you don't sell for a week they send you a bill as a paycheck, "you owe $200 for health insurance."

Lotta jealousy and hating going on towards Gunz. This is a guy who took over 20 guns off the street in a year with a ****ty team in a heavy house and still had time to take you guys to school on the Lt's test. Arrogant?...sure maybe a little, but he can back it up.
