J man ignore these fools. Who wants to study again jerks? The test was flawed. Passing doesn't make you smart or better qualified.

Dear J-Man, I want to compliment your passion and the excellent service you are providing us with. If im not mistaken you need 4 points. Im in a very similar position at 67.

I have spoken to so many of us who have taken the test and have heard the questions protested. Lets just step back for a minute and look it at from a non-personal stand point. How many do you honestly-realistically see getting changed? I know you are up to around 25 that you/we did not like.

Believe me i hope for as many changes as possible since i need 3 points.

Everyone protested the ''lab'' question. Without posting the exact answer the correct choice is right there, granted in a backwards way.

I hate to say it i think if they changed 2-3 questions that would be the most.

After reviewing the ones i got wrong the correct answer is in black and white, maybe in a low handed way but black and white.

Can we hear from someone who passed with 70 something or 80 something, and how many they think will get changed.

Everyone who took this exam should be grateful that J-Man is putting in this much effort.  Say whatever you want about the guy, but he is the only one who seems to really give a $hit. about making the list.  I, for one, have come to the conclusion that I will be spending another 6+ months with Yano and his "elite guide."

I passed with a nice cushion. I didn't get up and walk out. I still reviewed the test and all my incorrect answers. I protested 3. I agree there was a few that have a chance but no way are 25-30 getting tossed or modified. You have to remember that a lot of questions ask for "most correct" and to me that leaves room for small error, as long as the answer is more correct than another. Even the penal law one is correct, go look up the section. You can argue fear all you want but your articulating something that is not clearly stated in the question. It won't be changed. I tried to play devils advocate and see both sides before a protest.

I hope that the review panel really goes over everyone's protests and gives it it's fair attention. It's only right but in my personal opinion I think maybe 4-5 total, and that includes double answers.

Absolutely Bronx Party Hat, J-Man has done a tremendous job. And i like that you will study again (A true Bronx Housing guy nevers gives up). I remember you saying earlier in the week that you would never waste another moment studying and now you have come to the conclusion that you will be up in yonkers with Yano come april.
I would be proud for you to walk into my command as the x.o. and work for you. And that is what im asking for all of us to do- put our anger/disappointment behind us and look at this honestly-realistically.

How many do we think will be succesfully protested on THIS exam, the 4500 exam? Double digits? 3?

Thank You for your response BimpGod, Congrats as well, i believe you were in the mid 70's and prehaps look at it from a slightly different stand point.

2010 exam=Double digit throw outs
2012 exam=none
2013=????

I took the 2011 test and originally failed by 2. I was appalled by that test so I completely understand how everyone feels. I protested a couple and managed to pass but I learned from that experience sometimes anger and emotion gets in the way of logic. There is plenty of work to be done with this test and hopefully the panel will be fair and correct the mistakes.

THIS IS THE SON OF XAVIER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree with some of the above posters. Yes of course we need to be objective. However, if you really looked at that test, there were TREMENDOUS mistakes, that are not denyable. When you took the test you didnt have a copy of the PG next to you. If you sat for the protest, you could see side by side the text of the guide, and the wording of the test. Obviously, Im not going to discuss some of the questions. But believe me, as someone who sat there for the full 6 hours, and read every single question, there is ample room for protests. Im on the low side of 70, but not far at all. When people say theres plenty of room for protests its not wishful thinking. This one was worse that the 2011 LT test.

 Just the Facts,  Thank you very much for the vote of confidence but I never said I would "never study again." What I actually said on a separate thread was:

"I wish I could say the same thing but my ego/pride will not allow me to throw in the towel.  I will definitely take the next exam but I don't know if I will be able to dedicate the time necessary to have a shot at passing like the time I spent for this test.  For me, that is what stings the most.  The money spent on classes & supplies can be recouped but the time wasted is gone forever."

Unless there is major reform on how these tests are administered, it will continue to be a crap shoot for most of us.  Like I said before, there will always be people on our job who could pass any test given, regardless of difficulty, but they are the minority.  All I ask for is some consistency.

Stiggity - why exactly do you post in this forum? Its very clear you have no intention of helping anyone of your colleagues or lend anything to the protest for an obviously ****ed up exam. One would think, reading all of your annoy comments and all your posturing, you got a 95. From what I understand, you got a seventy. Thats as close to failing as possible and you could be in the same position. Why does a middle aged man have nothing else to do but bother people and gloat on a message forum? There are better places for lonely middle aged men....try e-harmony.com

Rookie scum eat sh!t

As for the rest of you, thanks for the kind words. As for the list of 25 protests, I am not the one to judge how valid or invalid they are. To be honest, only 7 of 25 apply to me. The remaining 18 came from other people and from a second look at the test booklet. Take the list for what they are worth and remember on my Lt. exam 20 were tossed after protests. 2010 Capt exam had 15. Its not out the realm of possibility considering how terrible this exam was written and reviewed and the improper literary license taken paraphrasing the guides.

Without giving specific question numbers or procedure numbers I will break it down like this:
7 pretty legit doubles
7 with detrimental errors (misspelling, misquotes, missing words, improper wording from guide etc)
4 other thowouts for a variety of reasons
2 throwouts per notice of exam
4 ify doubles

Agree or not I don't care. The more protests the better. It shows that this exam was a comedy of errors and maybe it will help a few of us. Email me for list to protests by mail. Also please stop entertaining stiggity.

I think many are reading too much into this. What Jman and others have done is just expose how faulty this exam was after taking a second more thorough look with the Patrol Guide. By no means is it implied that there will be 25 doubles or throwouts; lets be reasonable here guys. This exam undoubtedly had many problems with it and im sure there will be throwouts. I wouldnt listen or even address any of the non-humbled on this forum as im sure karma will come back to strike them especially when they are interfering with individuals who are trying to help each other out during these tough times for many. Congrats to those that passed and good luck to those that need help.

And jman, I didn't get a 70, sorry pal. Don't take this **** so seriously Chaz. I'll leave ya alone. Don't wanna hurt your feelings. You've taken enough ribbing the last few days from the boys on Mott St. I don't wanna pile on. Good luck with your protests.

I'm in no position to say which arguments will invalidate a question and which will be denied. Its possible none will be tossed its possible 20 will be, we'll see what happens when the captains are selected. Hopefully they can read, write and think logically. This was my first protest, I passed my last two exams with a modest 85% w/ lists #89 and #56. I have no expirience to speak from; all I can say is that I have been presented well over 30 protests from probably 20 other Lts, re-read all the procedures, re-read the test booklet and made a conclusion that there are many, many valid arguments and many potential throwouts and doubles. As I said before, most of these don't directly benefit me or my score. Its a collaborative effort that will hopefully pay off. Since this posting another person just pmed me with an additional three questions I thought were airtight. He or she makes another three very well written arguments and noticed things I did not. Win, lose or draw the reviewers of these protests will be faced with evaluating more than a third of all questions which were asked and will likely see that this test is a civil service abortion.

J man get the sand out of your vagina and stop crying like a little bitch. I for one enjoy Stiggy and his comments and especially like his not-so-subtle Captain Crunch picture. You obviously have no idea how the TVB and DCAS work. And whether he got a 70 or a 95, he passed. You didn't. Eat that **** :)

J-Man has done some great work on this. He has identified 24 questions that have been protested. Lets say that 2/3 of those protests are absoloute nonsense. Guess what? Thats still 8 Questions that are throwouts / doubles. Thats a lot. There are at least 5 questions that were flawed, not in the sense of trick/unfair wording but literally WRONG wording. Believe me, there is a lot of changes coming to the exam.

Nobody really passed or failed until the final key is released...theres about 450 people who "failed" the 2011 Lt test that have or will be crossing that stage again and shaking hands w the PC. Thats the point of a serious protest, so unless you have something tangible to add, go back to face-timing stiggity and stfu!

Stay Focused J-Man You are the engine behind this thread and if we in the ''Not so magnificent 362'' (387-25) pass with protested questions we owe you a salute at your promotion.

To the guys at 69 right now you are number ''26'' on the list, so they have alot invested in this. You are in thre top 26 of this list, we just have to get you that extra point.

As for Stiggityone, he has been the C.O of this forum and has kept us posted with quality information since the 06 Sgt test. Look at the 2012 Captain's forum-there is not much info even with executive level promotions on monday. They haven't put in a class since august. You would think that forum would be ablaze. But guess what? Its not because they don't have the quality leadership of Stiggity and Guess what else? Their test had zero throw-outs because they did not have a stand-up guy like you.

 I don't think the 3 that passed at a later date should be invited. Make it just the wonderful 22. We can also play a game of 2 hand touch.

What we need to do I.D the question number and section to see if that person with a 66, 67, 68 or 69 needs that question.

For example that question where it started off as p.o wilson and ended up as p.o williams is a guarented throw-out but everyone got it right already so lets i.d it and put it behind us.

Ex. question 42- p.o williams question-throw-out due to stem issue.

and so on and so forth.

most of the people i spoke to that failed (and there are 362 failures) seem to be in the 64-67 range. I havent met a 69 but im sure he/she is out there. Lets allow them to see of these 15 protested questions what ones they already got right and what ones they already got right.

J-Man, Even those who are sitting pretty right now with a 72 aka top 20 have alot invested in this protest. If there is say 8 protested questions someone at a 68 could wind up passing him 74-73 depending on which questions each person picks up.

J-Man im sure you remember plenty of stories like this on the Lieutenant Exam. We stand behind you J-Man. Stay focused.

And congrats to Igotubabe with a raw score of 87 that will put you in the top 3 depending on medal/fitness points. And with you being a Brooklyn North narco Lieutenant im sure you got a medal or two in the bank as well. And having had the privledge of seeing you in action your physical fitness level is worthy of a point of two as well.

Just dont rub it in too bad. Alot of us will never touch 92.5 on a promotional exam.

Don't worry Lew right now your tied at number 26 on this exam. 361 other people would love to be in your shoes.....except or course the ''Magnificent 25''. But if someone told you on november 22nd before the exam you would be in the top 26, you probably would have signed for it.

Wannabecaptain, Thank You for your interest, Do you have specific information that more than the 22+3 passed? You don't have to reveal your source or the exacct number but is it 35, 40, 61, 75?

I think we can all relate to your screen name. That's why we are here.

I did not want to post the following information until i personally confirmed it, but this is the information that was provided to me. A word of caution it was provided by a unconfirmed, unverified source. I post it now just to see if anyone here heard different totals. Please note that only includes 387 scores from the exam on 11-23-13 session 1.

-----------------------------------------------------------
81-90=5
71-80=17
69=13
68=16
67=9
66=21
65=11
64=15
63=13
62=10
61=8
below 60=247
----------------------------------------------------------------

if you do the math it does NOT add up to 387 but rather 385, which could have just been a counting mistake or this could be total b.s.

Regarding my earlier post from an UNVERIFIED source. A few have pointed out that it fails to account for exactly a 70 and exactly a 60. Could just be sloppy identification. Most likely meant 70-80 which would include a 70 and 60 and below which would include 60.

I didn't notice that, Im glad i threw it out there. Nice work picking it up.

Any word 'Wannabecaptain' on the numbers you heard. We wont kill the messenger.

Alot of smart resourceful people like yourself who could assist us in verifying that.

It would not be spoiling it for us but rather would be good to hear the truth. You and Wannabecaptain seem to know (not think) there are more than 25 passers. Please reveal the number. You don't have to reveal the source. Even if you just reveal the approx number. Is it 35,45,75 etc?

I know you and wannabe passed so your voice is not only respected but heard loud and clear.

Repeat don't worry about spoiling it.
