.....if something did happen which i doubt it will.........they could only offer another test sooner.......the ppl who passed would sue if they threw the test out............its a vicious cycle

Doesn't work that way. In basket takes significantly longer. And then you have people that want to doublecheck their answers too, so cut that time in half. I'm not saying this test wasn't fair, because I felt the material was definitely fair, if you read everything carefully and caught the little nuances and keywords. But it was definitely a curveball throwing 30 extra questions in. Some people studied and paced themselves for 100 questions and have a whole rhythm, etc. 30% longer is 30% longer, and it's not just a matter of speed, but of mental exhaustion.... Just saying.
They aren't going to throw it out ... Maybe a curve ...maybe not... But the SBA probably is looking for more of standardized test going forward... A lot of people passed this thing... Many have 80+....
People love playing victim... If they would have put that effort into studying maybe they would have passed... Don't give the I'm a slow test taker... Or slow reader... Boo hoo... Then maybe you shouldn't be police officer let alone a front line supervisor... U need to make decisions on the fly ... I finished with 15 minutes left... Thought I failed but got a 89... The City is covered by the NOE's ... Plain and simple... Any rookie lawyer would realize... And don't let the photo in the article fool you bloomy has nothing to do with this ... And another thing why do people think DCAS must give a similar test as years past???? The don't ... And they covered that in the NOE... And the directions on exam day ...
I actually hope someone does make a silly attempt at a lawsuit and I hope when I read it I see the same lame "unfair", "too tricky", "I couldn't finish" excuses that I see on this forum. If anyone wants a history lesson, go over to the 2011 LT exam thread. 19 candidates brought a lawsuit to toss that exam and it was summarily dismissed by the Judge. I just took a look at those court filings and I saw the same "unfair, too tricky, and inadequate notice" excuses that I see here. Like I said before, if people want to throw away money, I'll glady accept donations to help pay for my new LED TV. I'm out. I also got an 89 and I look forward to promotion. Best of luck to those that didn't make it this time. It's like people forget that another exam will eventually be given. Good lord.
When I started the test I figured 2:30min per question and did add up if I did 24 min per 10 questions which I checked every ten questions so I was able to manage my time I love the excuses people are giving it's ridiculous

Totally agree. ... finished that test with 2 hours to spare granted I didn't get the greatest score that I could of gotten If I would have just reread every question but I'm pretty sure I could have reread it if I wanted to. .. Some people finished in 3 hours. .. Why is there a 3 hour testing taking differential from failures and people who passed. .. people who take different exams throughout the city and state don't even have that much time to complete more questions with more difficulty, up to 200 questions in way less hours. ..
SBA can't save you from laziness.... Ingnorance ... Or stupidity.......
The email blast sent by DCAS on 9/30/2013 and the NYPD FINEST MESSAGE sent on 10/03/2013 included the following:
"The multiple-choice test will contain additional questions which will be used for research purposes only. These questions will not count toward your test score and will not be included in the protest review process. However, you should answer all questions in the test booklet. "
Also, the Admission Notice mailed to all candidates on 10/4/2013 included:
"Test Length: ONE SESSION OF 6 HOURS"
"The Test Length includes time for fingerprinting candidates, answering all questions including those that are for research purposes only, and documenting the test material that has been received by all candidates."
Finally, the instructions on the cover of the test booklet on the day of the test (10/19/2013) included:
"Time Allowed: 6 hours"
"TEST BOOKLET: This booklet has 100 questions - all of equal weight and an additional 30 questions distributed throughout the test that are for research purposes only. These research questions will not count toward your test score, and therefore, will not be included in the protest review process. However, you should answer all questions in the test booklet prior to the end of the test."
The above information was given to help you pace yourself in answering all of the questions. Although the research questions do not count toward your Exam #3539 test score, they are important to the development of future Police promotion exams. They were distributed throughout the booklet and not identified so that candidates would answer them with the same level of motivation as any other test question. This is necessary and standard research practice, just as is done in many college and military school entrance exams and professional licensing exams. The time limit of six hours was considered appropriate based on experience with prior Sergeant and other uniformed services exams.
Pretty significant this test made the news. Though, I don't think it's going to mean much. "Raise awareness" that the SBA has spoken. I think it would be unfair to the people that passed this test if the test were to be thrown out. I'll tell you this, the test is not going anywhere. 30 additional questions...yea, nobody expected that but if you really did dedicate yourself, you should have passed. For those that failed, maybe you did study but the test got the better of you. Don't worry, you'll have another shot. For those that passed, get ready and wait lol. It seems like a while from now but it'll come sooner than you think. Just one big waiting game.
Personally, I don't think anything will happen. This is more of gimmick for the SBA to show they have our backs. I think they just want DCAS to know that they will be put on the spot if they decide to do something stupid again.
