In Numbers

As always there are many rumors going around about the test leaving it hard to believe one another.  But what we need to realize is that if we dont stick together, we will never have a fighting chance.  As many of you remember, this test was supposedly pushed back due to many younger cops complaining to DCAS on how unfair it was to cut them out.  And suddenly the test was changed from June to October.  If this is remotely true, its time for us to write to DCAS to complain once more but to stick to the basic facts:

-previous tests had 100 questions to answer in six hours yet we had 130 in six hours nearly an additional third of the test added that doesnt count.

-the many instructor that have been studying the patrol guide for years and who know the in and outs of promotional exams were for the first time rejected from taking the test which gave previous test takers an unfair advantage to know what questions and how to protest questions to gain a better score.  We dont have this opportunity and need to rely on 6 months worth of studying to try and get a question tossed out.

In the past though, you go to the protest sessions discuss what to challenge, everyone gets to review the exam again and then the "cheaters" get to take the exam afterwards. Case in point, look at the 2011 Lt exam. The "cheaters" easily scored far and away better than everyone that went in on a level playing field. The #1 scorer on the original list had in the low 90's, the revised list with cheaters the #1 scorer had 100.

It was like a 9 point swing for the top scorer!!! Cheating has been going on for too long and I am glad DCAS is trying to do something about it. They should have warned that there would 30 more dummy questions or allotted more time, but for my Sgt Exam I finished with nearly 3 hours to spare. My Lt exam I took the whole 6 hours due to a messed up exam
