Does anyone know?

what are the 30 extra question Intended for?Or what is the purpose. Because they were all PG questions. So what's the idea behind it. i would understand if the questions were gear towards certain topic, but to use direct PG questions makes little sense to me.

I was ASSuming they would be judgement geared questions. Boy was I wrong!

I remember reading all questions should be answered not MUST. Very vague email. It was full of words but full of **** at the same time.

Maybe they were trying to calculate the effect that fatigue might have on a civil service exam. Heard some questions near the end were repetitive maybe to test if you would choose the same response as before. Almost like the Psychological exam.

The 30 questions were predetermined. It was solely done to combat cheating. The city does the same thing with standardized public school tests. The only difference is they give more time. There is no interchanging of questions it would defeat the reasons that it was done.  Makes it very hard to cheat for example come on these forums and see what the harder questions and answers were before one of the many given make up tests with in the next few months when you have no idea if those questions counted.  This is the reason they are pre determined. Do I think it's fair absolutely not.  You guys shouldve been told and given more time.

Maybe the examiners are trying to see the effect of the questions on the people taking the alternate date exam. Perhaps the 30 questions will be totally different ones, since they technically 'don't count.'

Smartcookie,

There's no way they can grade a test using different questions as the research for different test dates. We all need to be graded on the SAME 100 questions.

wrong, you all took and the future guys will take 130 questions, so they can interchange which ones count and which dont.

Negative if a computer randomly picks different 30 answers from each and takes them out, it's non arbitrary.  It's legal.

Sure they can! As long as they use the same 100 questions, the other 30 can be whatever they want them be.

Guys,

The questions that are for research purposes only were predetermined before the test was given.  They do the same thing on most standardized tests in school.  The SATs are like that and the LSATs.  They add a section that won't count in the grading but you have no idea what section it is until after they release your scores.  This type of exam is really common just not with our promotional exams.  The biggest problem is that it will be impossible to create an answer sheet like we did in 2011 and pretty much know your score in advance.

I suggest that, like mike Yanosik from the elite said, everyone should attend that protest session and see what you got. but also let them know how you felt about this test (the time frame given for an extra 30 questions) and focus on the duplicate question and any other test based questions that you guys can think of where you were on the fence with the answer. I have a few in my mind that should be thrown out as being too borderline with the answer choice they gave. If anyone can think of questions for us to formulate, PM me so we can go to Dcas with a list of unfair questions and hopefully get them thrown out. These promotional class teachers, from fast track to elite to rising star and the key, would have protested the questions they thought were too tricky or too misleading but since they were unable to take the test, the cannot be our voice. Mike Yanosik said everyone should try to attend, it's for our own benefit and the future of our careers
