Rising Star's letter to DCAS regarding this Sgt. Exam

Dear Rising Star students:

For the first time in our test-taking careers we have been denied the opportunity to sit for the upcoming Sergeant exam. Although DCAS added a disclaimer a few years ago stating that those ineligible for the exam may not be admitted, they have never enforced this--until now! We feel that this will set a bad precedent for a number or reasons: mainly, it will not allow us to appeal questions on behalf of our students--something we have always done since 2006. Additionally, we have always encouraged our students to take all the exams given, whether they are eligible for them or not, in order to practice (for example, those taking the November Captain exam should have also signed-up for the October Sergeant exam).

The link below is our letter of appeal to DCAS. If you signed-up for this exam, and were denied admission because of eligibility, we encourage you to send a similar letter to DCAS stating your appeal. If you would like us to help you in editing/wording your letter, please email it to us at info@risingstarpromotion.com

Best,

Tony and Ed

Pretty decent of Rising Star to push the issue with DCAS. Hopefully it pays off and they can sit to take the exams again.

They denied it because they were screwing us and didn't want people to see it. Being told 30 questions are informational and instead of how it's always been with the extra at the end they pull this crap and mix them in. It's one thing to beat us with the questions but bush league crap like this is ridiculous.

I suggest that, like mike Yanosik from the elite said, everyone should attend that protest session and see what you got. but also let them know how you felt about this test (the time frame given for an extra 30 questions) and focus on the duplicate question and any other test based questions that you guys can think of where you were on the fence with the answer. I have a few in my mind that should be thrown out as being too borderline with the answer choice they gave. If anyone can think of questions for us to formulate, PM me so we can go to Dcas with a list of unfair questions and hopefully get them thrown out. These promotional class teachers, from fast track to elite to rising star and the key, would have protested the questions they thought were too tricky or too misleading but since they were unable to take the test, the cannot be our voice. Mike Yanosik said everyone should try to attend, it's for our own benefit and the future of our careers
