This question may have been asked but im trying to find out can you sit and take the Capts exam if you dont make LT in time of the test in Nov? Atleast to see what its like for next time.
You can take the test but need a day in rank to get promoted.
No, you cannot. You need to be a Lt for one day in order to sit for the Capt's exam and 2 years as a Lt to get promoted to Capt.

Based on the numbers, its looking like a class of 30. We are currently -19 and 10 more are set to retire by Sept.28. In addition, as we all know, the current Sgt. BMOC is getting promoted at the end of the month. Ill eat my words if im wrong but September seems to be a lock.

No you can not. Dcas will do an audit before the exam and send you a notice telling you that you are not eligible. They started doing this last year. They wanted to stop people from the schools going to get info on the tests. Oh and by the way dcas won't refund you your money.

I think he was asking if he could just sit for the exam for experience. And the answer would be yes, provided you signed up for it.

Class may be even bigger. According to "Jooky" there's another 7 on oct 1st. That'll put us at -36, not counting the non terminal retirees. That or back to back classes. Either way. Good stuff.
I wanted to clarify...i signed for up for the capts exam looks like i may just miss getting promo in time so i wanted to see if i can sit for exam to see how it was. Thanks

It is true about the audit, but most people end up taking it anyway. Spikes, you already paid, chances are you'll be able to take it. Unless all those people that took the last cpt test as sgts were lying.

Last time it was a craap shoot for the Lt's exam. I knew of three people who signed up for the test, though they were not sure if they would be promoted in time. All were not promoted in time. Two of them were denied taking the test, the other one was able to. DCAS is as organized as a tornado, so I guess you should hope for the best and just gear up to try and take it.
DCAS are a bunch of morons. The only reason Sgts were not allowed to take the 2011 Sgt exam is because OUR JOB claimed a manpower issue. It had nothing to do with DCAS. They could care less who signs up for the exam. The give tests on audio for blind people who sign up for the P.O. entrance exam for God's sake - I'm not joking

This must mean no cpt promotions, otherwise it'd be a bigger class. I'd suspect an October class as well considering by October we'd be back to about -15. With cpt promotions you'd have enough for an October class.
hello.....it may be because many of the people who use to post have gotten promoted already and forgot about us still pending....but thanks brat for not leaving us hanging.
