Not much change. Like Montclair03 said, people are probably waiting for that sh** contract to pass so they can collect $20,000 and get even worse health benefits when they retire. Welcome to the obamacare system. You're going to need that $20,000.
I work at the puzzle palace and my boss (3 stars) has the march 2nd promotion on his calendar. There is a Lt. class but I'm not sure how many. Rumor is 30 going in. The job is preparing for a good amount of retirements once the Lt contract is ratified. I won't have updated info until Tuesday.
It's not the -4 that the job is concerned about. It's the fact that they expect the Lt. contract to be ratified this week and a possible loss of over 100 Lt. retirements in March once Lt.'s can waive their terminal and get paid for it.
Great news. I was not expecting another LT promotion until at least the end of March with a April ALC. Trust me I hope your right, but with the current numbers, I dont see how.
When is the contract supposed to ratified, I know the ballots went out, when were they due back.

Just a question.
What makes the Job think there is going to be a Mass Exodus for the door once the Lt contract is ratified?
Talking to some of the Lt's in my cmd, I got the feeling that many of them (and others they have talked too) we're leaning towards staying to the end of the new contract; because that payout for waiving terminal leave is big. That number could be as high as $20,000 or more for some.
You're right, to suddenly leave to cash out your term lv for $20,000 , which u have to put in your 457/401k otherwise u get heavily taxed, makes no sense
It depends on the seniority level. For example, Lt.'s with 27 years are going to think differently then Lt.'s with 21-24 years. There are plenty of Lt.'s with over 25 years that are considering leaving. A lt in my office is leaving and he said that no matter when you leave there's going to be another contract coming if you wait long enough. What it comes down to is are you happy with your numbers? Also some people have jobs lined up and are just waiting for this to be ratified before they walk out. Some Lt.'s are just tired of working. No matter what the reason you have to expect some retirements soon after the contract is ratified.
Well thanks for the info. It's appreciated.
Another Question.
Has anyone heard anything about the Sgt's contract?
I just heard a rumor of 14% over 7 yrs. basically 2's across the board. No word on givebacks though....
Sounds great for those of us about to leave the SBA for the LBA, but I'm skeptical.....
Just wanted to see if anyone else heard similar shenanigans......
Just got word that the LT contract was ratified. Now Lt's with time go put your papers in and make room for the next generation ;) Sgt's are going to jump on with the coaltion and get the same percentages the DEA, LBA, and Captains just got. Thats what im hearing. Contract isn't good but no real givebacks.

The LBA signed that contract before sending out the ballots. If you didn't receive a ballot or didn't vote it's counted as a yes. They do whatever they want and there are no LBA elections so you can't do anything about it. There are no give backs because we aren't getting anything. In the coming months we will see how the retirees benefits will be affected. Also no reopener clause so if and when the PBA and SBA get paid through perb or negotiated settlement, we will have no recourse until after 2018. On top of all of this we are legitimizing this disgrace of a mayor.
We all complain how Suffolk PO will make more then LCD/LSA base pay yet you are the ones approving 1%. Shame.
We are getting 11% over 7 years compared to 28% raise for Suffolk PO over same 7 yrs.
Jooky do you know how collective bargaining works? You should go listen when the unions speak, not just your union all the unions. Your not gonna break the pattern WITHOUT GIVEBACKS. PBA sells out unborn because they dont care because their unborn are civilians. If civilian doesnt like starting salary or amount of vacation days then they have option of not taking the job. If other unions sell out unborn their memebers are Mos of other ranks.
First of all, thank you for the patronizing tone of your post. I have been a delegate in the past, so yes I know how fu**ing collective bargaining works. So you're ok with them messing with retiree benefits? The city has a surplus which was previously unavailable during the last administration which would place the SBA and PBA in a favorable position for a perb award, which has broken the pattern without give backs in the past. Settling for this award without waiting for the PBA and SBA is just idiotic. Agreeing to a no reopener clause is just stupid.
I'm not looking to get into a childish posting war here, but your myopic view of this contract is just irritating. We are not PAA's, plumbers or bus drivers. The mayor is in a politically compromised position and I feel we could have taken advantage of that. At the very least we could have waited for the PBA.

who said suffolk po is making more than LCD??? they top out at $111,506 after 12 years of service
I think that's in regard to the base salary of Suffolk PO in 2018. Base is right under $140k, top Lt in 2018 is $125k... Not sure what LCD/LSA base is?

Lt is basically locked now. The only way that Lt salary can change now after ratification is if Sgt base salary exceeds Lt base salary. That probably won't happen, but what might happen is the gap between Sgt/Lt could get smaller. If the PERB award is substantial, than the Sgts will use that in negotiations, along with the FLSA lawsuit from what I've been hearing for an extra percent or two. Whatever the case, it's absolute madness that the LBA accepted that thing with a no re-opener clause. It's going to be very interesting to see what happens from here on out with the SBA/PBA and the recent ratification of the DEA and LBA contracts.... PERB is supposed to compare the rank of PO to neighboring counties/Departments rank of PO, not the supervisory ranks of this Department... So I don't think the LBA/DEA ratifications will have as much effect as people think on the rank of NYPD PO. But yes, the Lt's are practically locked in now until 2018. Gotta love that LBA.
Yes we don't have reopener clause. However since LBA is in with other unions in coalition, they, the other unions can ask for the difference (parity). If SBA/PBA will get a better contract the coalition/LBA will get it too if it satisfies them
Lt's are not running to the pension section after the new deal was ratified, I surely expected them to. Seems like the vacancies will be slow based on the anticipated numbers.
