I am using Fast Track to study but I want to supplement with more practice questions. Is there something for sale that only has practice questions, maybe listed by PG sections? Will the Police Academy have their own sgt exam classes for this exam? I remember their questions were good.
The academy will post questions on the job website. Right now it lists it as coming soon, I would guess in another week or two they will start with 202. Best part is its free and the material is good for studying for the exam.
Bee, the best questions are offered by the risingstar. Hands down they are the best. I'm not knocking down academy questions certainly it's good to have as many as you can get you're hands on but they are too simple. Best of luck.

I second this. Study as if they are going to give you a really messed up hard test. 50% of the time they do, and if you practice with hard questions, you are covered. If the test is easy and right down the middle, you are also covered. Either way you win.
Can I only buy the questions from risingstar? I don't really want to buy another study course.

Yeah, usually they will sell just the questions towards the end. ONly problem is, it's just the PG questions....you miss out on all their other questions (judgement, math, legal bureau, etc.) unless you get the whole course. I agree though, the Rising Star questions are the toughest, most exam-like, and best for the serious studier hands down.
I just purchased a study app from iTunes for my iPhone. So far it looks great. Did a few questions and them seem good. The app also has a long list of acronyms. I can use all the help since I missed the last one by 2.
I think the Rising Star prepares you the best, even if they do at time nitpick minor details, tough questions are good in preparation even if they are humbling and frustrating at times. I also like the Key questions bc many are rewrites of actual past exam questions. The problem I have with the PA questions is that chances are if its in the PA questions it has absolutely no chance of actually being on the test bc the same people are writing it! What are they going to give away the test early? No way!
As for Elite and FT, both were once the same school, so their questions are very similar that mostly more like exercises in helping your memory of certain points utilizing fill in the blank, matching, and some multiple choice questions. I know what they are doing helps, but it doesn't simulate the real test!
Anyway, even though I have no hand in any of the classes or in taking this Sgt's exam, I have a funny feeling people are in for it on this one. Why? The last exam had over 1600+ people make the list and many thought it was kind of easy for a promotional exam.
2013 a brutal exam for the ages? I dunno, but if it is, I don't wish anyone to go through what the 2011 Lt's Exam was in being blatantly unfair and poorly written and designed. Maybe difficult like the 2012 Capt Exam where few passed it, but no throwouts/double answers, meaning a good fair yet difficult exam.
You obviously have NO IDEA how the process works........the people who are writing the academy questions ARE NOT involved at all in writing the actual exam.
I never said the PA questions were bad, they are pretty good actually. But aren't the same people who are are behind the PA classes/questions the same ones submitting and writing questions to DCAS for inclusion into the real exam? I fairly certain that has how it has went done before.
absolutely NOT - DCAS pulls people from commands (etc. / NOT THE ACADEMY) to write questions - those people who are selected work IN 1 Centre Street for the duration and should have no contact with "the job" until after the exam. I know this because I have done this in the past. I am more than "fairly certain" how the process works. We are the LAST people that DCAS would want in contact with they because we do the course - trust me, the job and the city prevent "conflict of intrest" such as what you are implying.

got to back up brat on this one my man. Def is how it is done. Cant you find out who is writting the questions by looking at the personnel orders??? or do they not show up??
So you are saying no writers of questions of say the 2011 Sgt exam had anything to do with the PA questions and/or classes? Sorry, but you know thats not true. I am just saying if anyone there is involved in the process, which in the past there have been, I couldn't possibly see them giving away which 100 points they are going to go to on the actual exam.
Well, when you say "they" (in regard to the material) is JUST ME.......and as far as I know, I am not writing the exam.......the instructors who are teaching the class this year are full time instructors here.......believe what you want.......you are 100% wrong
