Phase 1 is not mandatory (i never did it and i'm already promoted). It was my understanding that phase 5 is when you are brought back after BMOC to discuss your experiences.

There are 5 phases to the SLC phase 1(pre SLC), phase 2&3 is the BMOC, phase 4 is the field training and the phase 5 is 6 months after the promotion where SLC people will ask you for any feed back.....
