UNBELIEVABLE THAT THERE ARE NO CHANGES. LOOK FOR A NEW TEST MIDDLE OF 2013 AT THE LATEST AND TO START PROMOTING OF THE FUTURE CAPT'S LIST BY MID 2014. WOW. THIS LIST WILL LAST A YEAR AFTER THEY START PROMOTING OFF OF IT (MAYBE).
I haven't heard anything about May 2014 but I will check my sources. I have been hearing this May 2014 on this site since they announced the last Captains exam.
Brat, Have you heard anything about a captain's test in 2014? If so, what is the possible month that the test will be given? I'm hearing from a lot of sources that it will be in 2014, including those on this site, but would like a more definate answer if possible...Thanks in advance and congrats on making the captain's list!
Sorry, but nobody has any concrete info on another capt test. Depends on retirements, vacancies, etc. it's all just speculation. According to the schools there is always something on the horizon, so u go and buy their total guide or whatever they are selling. They're running a business after all.
Thats ok, i didnt kill myself studying......the rank isn't practical for me right now, i am better off. I will try and keep you in the loop. Thanks for the kind words

I'm really sorry that you didn't make the list...The reason I congratulated you was because I thought I read somewhere that you passed..I think that the department needs more ppl like you that actually look out for others. Thanks for keeping us in the loop!
A lot more people will sign up and take the next one. Younger guys. Less time on. Newly promoted.
I agree, there will be a lot more interest for the next exam. I also predict that eventually ALL promotional exams will become very competitive. The new pension tiers do no incorporate overtime earnings into its calculation. Eventually, the only way new officers will be able to increase their pensions is by getting themselves promoted. Thus my reasoning for the competitiveness of future promotional exams.

That is actually incorrect, we had a rep from the pension section in our bmoc who stated that Tier 3 does include overtime in the pension.
Whether or not there will be a tier 4 in the future that does not remains to be seen but as of right now everyone is entitled to their overtime in their pension.
