hey guys---congrats to all those made and those who will get made. i am now a sgt in a lovely impact cmd--but i have no complaints. anyways--my buddy in personel said the testing unit is already talking w/the powers that be at OMAP and they are looking to get a LT test panel ready to start the grind of making a test in the spring of 2013--with a exam being given spring 2014. as always--this isnt bologna---i was shocked too. but he said they re are going to fly through this LT list. to all those wondering--i guess it isnt far out.
With this new rumor, what do you guys think the likelihood of this list speeding through, or not getting cut? Welcome back Ondeeair. Keep these info coming guys, thanks!
At the rate they're hiring off the list, I figure that the first 6 to 8 BMOC's would not only be eligible to take a 2014 Lt Exam but might also be promoted before they hit top pay Sgt...if that is the case, that would be awesome!
First 18 bmocs will probably make it if this is true. I'm guessing list 1000 is made by the end of next year and by spring of 2014 I say closer to list # 1400 is made.
I doubt this info, they just broke 100 on the Lt list and passed over a lot of people due to time in Sgt rank, jam up, education, etc. There are well over 600 people on the Lt exam. Figure they will give an exam about a year before this list expires or is exhausted, so that would be in 2015.
Once more Ondeeairis busted pushing his B/S. I called DCAS and they have no knowledge of any future exam for Lt in 2014. They assured me it is too early to speculate as to a Lt exam in 2014.
I stated this 3-4 month ago that dept will go thru 2011 Lt test like a hot knife thru butter 660 passed. Close to 120 has been promoted. I assume by the beginning of 2013 150+ total will get made. Now, as always some sgt's will get jammed up, some retire. Thats usually 5-10% of the list. They wont have to wait till the list get exhausted. Once they promote half or more than half of the list they will announce another test. Thats 6-7 months of studying. by the time results of the new test are announced and list is proposed 2011 Lt test will be over
Well said and accurate info. I say there will be a Lt. Exam in November of 2013 or February 2014. And I an not here to start rumors only to provide information as it comes to me. Be safe all and start reading this years Interim Orders.

Being Sgt is going good for me. Initially started out being quite hectic but after a few months I got the hand of it. the trick is not to befriend and of your subordinates. Do not blur that line between supervisor and cop. These people are your subordinates. Makes it so much easier when you are dishing out CD's. Some of you will be taken aback by what I just said but it works for me. I am considered the douche hammer at my precinct. So be it, I say. At least they respect and fear me. I cant wait to take this Lt exam. That means more people under me.
doesnt matter, you need to study it anyway. By the way, giving out cd's is not a way to get respect. Anyone can go to a command and dish out cd's. What shows a true leader/boss is getting the troops to respect you and work for you because they want to. Get more bees with honey ? Yes you do. So, fatback, if it works for you, by all means do what you feel is best. DO not mistaken respect and fear.
Whomever started this rumor should immediately report to Lefrak for dole testing. No way there will be another test that quickly. No way! They only promote about 250 lts per year +|- and people on this list will be skipped because of time; that will slow the list down some adjusting for the previous number- 250.

I am not sure about the 2006 Lt test on IO's, but the 2011 Lt test had no questions on IO's, nothing on CIMS, no continious event/moving complaint, and was a complete mess of an exam. I wouldn't wish it on anyone else in future exams. The 2011 Lt exam had to be the absolute worst exam in department history. I am not kidding, I am not saying it was the most difficult or got the best of the best Lt's, just that it was unfair, poorly written, and didn't follow tradtional exam format other than it actually had multiple choice...
As for the spring 2014 rumor, I doubt it. Why? 660+ Lt's on current list and even though they have broken through 100+ names, a lot of backfills. There was a 5 year lapse between the 2006 Lt exam until the 2011 Lt exam.
If the current Lt list was established and promotions started in summer 2012, assuming this list lasts a full four years that is summer 2016 when it expires. Figure they have to give a new Lt exam at least 6 months to a year before that. So my wild guess with no inside info to back it up is summer 2015 at the earliest, late 2015 early 2016 at the latest.
You have to keep in mind over the next 4 years almost 10000 cops of all ranks are gonna be up for retirement. I wouldn't start studying right now but looking over some Lt duties couldn't hurt

So, we don't worry about IO for next LT exam? Is that all the argument about?
NO, you do need to worry, it's just to show you how screwed up an exam can be. All the classes and everyone shoves IO's down your throat and we had zilch.
