Trying to make collars while waiting to get promoted is just asking for trouble. To the job the perp is always right and you are always wrong lol. I'd say just do what you have to do to keep your head above water. Good luck guys!

I always planned on being promoted so I always acted like it. I spent all my years preparing for pre promotion by not collaring

All of you who stop being cops in anticipation of being a sergeant are a disgrace! Precisely the reason a lot more than a test score should go into determining promotion eligibility! In addition to passing a written exam, your performance evaluations and an interview in front of a panel should go into determining a list #!

Just play the game. If you shut down or they notice a lack of activity because you might be getting promoted soon it may bring unfavorable attention to yourself like being put on level 1 which could hold you up. Play the game and get promoted. You have worked this hard to get this far don't throw it away

I agree with playing the game but I will say that it is difficult going to work every night knowing you will be promoted soon...I have no motivation to do much of anything except count down the days...

I totally understand. But stay under the radar. Do no less just keep doing what you were doing. You don't need the headache. I know a couple of guys who got skipped (not because of time or credits) . It's not a good feeling, that I wouldn't wish on anyone

Collaring a lot is not what makes a good cop. There r probably plenty of retards fleecing people probably against the constitution bringing in **** collars in high quantities that are not fit to be a boss. And I wish knight would've given me that advice earlier. I could've gotten off for my wedding. Lol. Hahaha. No but seriously. I would fly way under the radar if I knew I was going in the next couple of classes. Anyone silly buff who would keep collaring like a psycho probably hasn't realized yet that this job will F you for anything. Why put this job first before ur own goals. Be smart. Not blind.

I wouldn't ask from my squad anymore than I would give. The absolute minimum. If u wanna buff out then go ahead and I hope it never bites u in the ass.

Alot of "heroes" on here telling others to keep collaring as they are up for promotion. What a idiotic idea. Yea go ahead keep playing hero so right up until promotion something can happen that will affect your promotion and future pension, and hurt your family so some internet toughguys can say you're a real cop by keeping on collaring. F u keyboard commandos. If you want to stop collaring, I say go for it, your future and your family is all that matters, hit that 20 with as few bumps as possible.

Amen to that. Remember that the only thing that matters on this job is to sign out at the end of the day to go home to your family. Unless there are certain circumstances, I would keep under the radar and play the game until promotion. Always work smarter, not harder...

I say collar when you're supposed to collar. Don't perjure yourself. Don't make gray area collars. Don't **** can collars that can be traced. Remember you're always on tape.

Talking about collars, I would say keep doing what you have been doing for 5 years or so if you change that's when you will get in trouble and you will be a passover. Everyone took the job for a reason. just remember to treat everyone the same way you want ur family to be treated, Good luck to all.

If you need the money for a mortgage or family yes keep collaring but be careful. If someone runs from you or you feel it's not worth it that night let it be. It is kinda a pay cut at first you do day tours for bmoc then maybe a week or two of more day tours before you get assigned to a squad. If your in a slow house there's no real way to make money for a boss at first. So do your thing and just be careful.

Every instructor in BMOC has their own opinion. I have spoken to a few who say that the August class still has a chance of being nixed. Instructor Dean basically told me that this BMOC is subject to change as to the needs of the department. Just because someone stated that there would be an August BMOC back in early July does not mean that by the beginning of August it will be so. Things change and definitely people change.

The August class was always tentative and not definite, hence it looks like things are going to change in a minute way(51 instead of 75) or in a big way(Lt. Ng's statement). All I know is that what was stated as fact earlier in the month is not definite now. The bosses are making changes and it does not bode well for the next class.

Good luck to all.

That's what I'm thinking also...they will most likely cut the list to the 50's, but a class should go in. Don't let the trolls spread BS rumors. I'm thinking list numbers upwards of 290-300

August is not looking good , folks. Everyone is in a tizzy over here. The number has been dropped to 51 and now there is speculation that the August class will not happen. This is coming from Lt Ng.

I will keep you posted.

Yoyo, Lt Ng never said this in class but if you took the time to talk to your instructors on the side then you might get a bevy of information that you are otherwise unlikely to have access to. Calling me a liar just makes you look like an internet tough guy. I am in the class with you, bro. Try calling me a liar to my face if you dare. BTW I always sit in the front row near the windows. Feel free to say hi.
