I understand some come on here and state their opinion like its hard facts. But you guys who believe it wont be cut do the same. Theres going to be someone devastated if yhis list gets cut and they didnt prepare for the 2013 test!
Trollpatrol, keep dreaming. Only a buffoon goes about his business when a storm is approaching. The numbers and the facts do not lie. You are welcome to believe the other idiots in assuming everything is hunky dory.
Sgt2be, you hi the nail right on the head. I been saying the same thing but for my actions I have been crucified for daring to mention the possibility. The cool aid is strong in some of these padawans.
Well enough chatting. I have a long day ahead of me in BMOC tomorrow.
Padawans really? The amount of tools on this forum could fill a Home Depot!!! Your in bmoc yet, your still on here posting, please get a life an only post if I have info about next few bmocs!!
Anyway I have a busy day tomorrow have to go Home Depot maybe bed bath and beyond not sure ill have time........
i think the real problem is people dont have facts from either side, dont spew " o they will cut bc of this or they wont cut because of that" put facts down not some crap that makes 0 sense, no one has no real sources and when they say they have a source they wont say who it is or where their from because they think the job will cut their sack off.
And what happened to the 2008 and 2009 list? The 2009 list was established every single person knew their list number and waited over a year to be activated as the 2008 list was finished. So yes you're right the same will most likely happen. If it doesn't it doesn't. Just study and you'll be safe. That's all. And by the way that's the only example this forum has as to what this job does when there are two concurrent lists since establishing a passing grade.

It is often secretive of when the list will be cut, just as when a BMOC class goes in. A few people might have the heads up a few weeks in advance but most don't know. So far 415 people have been promoted or are in BMOC in only 8 months of this list being established. 1663 people are on this list, meaning there are 1248 left with an exam in 6 months? Figure there realistically could be another list by this time next year too?
I am not saying I have inside info on this list being cut, but the immaturity and refusal to listen to reason from many on this board borders on delusional. As fast as this list has moved, I think the only way everyone gets made is if the new list is held for a few years and then established. That did happen with the 2009 exam, so there is hope.
There is a precedent for holding a list for years, but there is also a precedent with killing large lists before they expire. Time will tell, but start doing a little math for a worst case scenario on promotion rates and assuming a list came out in Dec 2013, there is no chance in hell they get to 1663 by the end of 2013.
I would be lying if I said I knew, but lets say they stick to 415 every 8 months? IF that was the rate which is an average of 52 a month and the doomsday 6 month list establishment comes true that means another 622 by the time the 2013 exam gets established in one year. Basically if you are in the triple digits, you are completely safe, but if your list number has 4 digits, I would study for the June 8th test, just in case...
Since the 70 rule no list has ever been more than 1000 names or has ever went to 1000 names. SGT. LT. & CAPT. The same thing that happened to the 2008 and 2009 list will happen to the 2011 list. It will go around 700-800 names and then a new list will be established. It seems like DCAS likes to keep lists under 1000ppl
You really can not compare a list of 1700 where if they went to the last list number the grades would be dipping into low 50's high 40's, of course it's in the best interest of the Department to cut a list early like that. It's ridiculous to even compare the two. It's not the same. What would be the reason for the dept to cut a list of all passing grades solely to start a new list. And to say its to get higher promoted scores is ridiculous because that would pretty much cancel out this whole 2011 LT's list, and 2010's Captains list which are both bottom heavy lists. Especially the most recent LT list. But like I said I agree with the idea of studying to be safe. No one truly knows what will happen so the best thing you can do is make the decision you personally think is best for your career and do it. If its study again, study. No big deal.

Can we all agree that all but the last 300 or so are safe?
If, on the other hand, you just skated by on the last round? If it were me, I would be taking it seriously this time. It would suck to die on a list. But it would suck 100x more to die on a list when there was a perfectly good test waiting for me. It's like buying insurance: just DO IT. you never know what's going to happen. Studying the PG never hurts...
They only got into the 1100+ range the last time they killed a list of 1700+ names. Yes, the scores were not as good as this exam and there was no 70 passing mandate. But if you went by that number then the last 500+ people should be concerned.
I am just going to take a wild guess, with no information or inside knowledge, list gets killed in early 2014 and about 1200 get promoted. I am not trying to mess with people here, just taking a random guess, it is not even an educated one at that. Whatever the number really is, I would be really surprised if all 1663 people get made....
You can compare the 2003 list this list in that it had a very large list. Also you are exagerating a bit saying people in the 40's were on it. Lowest raw scores were 58 raw scores in the 1700+ range, you needed a 67+ final score to get made off that list which was in the 1100+ range.
FYI- it was also the last exam that gave 2.5 to city residents added to the raw score, so a few people in the low 60's with residency, military, fitness, medals may have made it but there is a max added point cutoff too.
2003 was the last time we saw a list similar in size, it was established in spring of 2005 and was killed in October 2006. 1100+ were promoted and the scores were dreadful, but it was also a harder exam with obscure questions about sick pregnant female cops, lettering on the bicycle, bribery with the briefcase adding to monetary value, school safety officer injured, just a bunch of off the wall obscure nonsense...
OOOOOO BOYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!! DO YOU KNOW THAT THE PREVIOUS SGTS LIST WAITED ALMOST A YEAR BEFORE THEY HIRED OFF OF IT I WONDER WHY THEY DIDN'T KILL THAT LIST.
Waiting a year to establish a list is quite common. Most Sgt's list take between 6 months to a year to establish and begin hire off of. The 2003 list had a lawsuit that held it up over year due to the proctors at Evander Childs High School ending the test too early, kicking everyone out then realizing they mismanaged the time letting people waiting around outside to come back in to finish the test.
Of course many already went home, so there was an injunction that exam and it took if I remember correctly about 15 months for the lawsuit to get tossed and the list to get established and people getting promoted. But I remember myself and many others wanting that entire test tossed bc it was an off the wall exam with a lot of really obscure questions and based on the proposed answer key at the time, it just seemed like almost everyone bombed it.
The 2009 exam was also strange bc they established a list a year later but waited like another year for the 2008 list finish to start hiring off of it. Whoever makes these decisions on how many people to promote, I have no idea what they take into consideration. Maybe all 1663 people get promoted? That hasn't happened since the the 1990's! So it has happened, but the last few lists that had 4 digit "passers were all cut well short of the total list...
HEY PATROL GUIDE MY BIBLE I REMEMBER YOU......... ARENT YOU ONE OF THE INSTRUCTORS FROM THE KEY? YOU SENT ME A MESSAGE A WHILE BACK REQUESTING THAT I TAKE MY FAT ASS SOMEWHERE ELSE.YOUR ONE OF THE GUYS THAT KICKED ME OFF OF THIS CRAPPY FORUM.

LISTEN UP YOU IDIOT!! ALL YOU ARE TRYING TO DO IS STIR THIS POT SO PEOPLE BUY YOUR COP CARDS OR ATTEND YOUR DAM CLASS.THE HONORABLE RAY KELLY WILL NOT BE CUTTING A LIST AFTER HE IMPLEMENTED 70 AS A PASSING SCORE.YOUR MAIN CONCERN SHOULD BE HAVING TO DEAL WITH THE IDIOT ROOKIES THAT WILL BE OUT THERE.COME HANG OUT WITH US ON THE LT'S FORUM AND LEAVE THESE WHITE SHIELDS TO FEND FOR THEMSELVES YA FILTHY ANIMAL.
Just for the record the above fellow is a cheap facsimile of me who is intent in getting a rise out of the people here. I assure you that this fat slob is not me. Now that this matter is cleared up i can assure you that this exam will indeed be cut off. Too many people in the know are saying the same. To make matters worse the process of making sgts is slowing down. It used to be 75 people per class but now we only see 50 at best and that comes right after a cancelled class. This alone speaks volumes. The nail in the coffin is the introduction of a new test as early as June 8 which will assure that this list will become situated by December 2012. More and more people keep saying that a list has to be kept valid for 4 yrs time and that is PURE POPPY ****! This is the biggest myth of them all and that is why this forum is full of people preaching falsehoods.
The 4 year rule is misunderstood, but not a myth. 4 years a list expires, but the job can kill a list before that and hire off a newer list. 4 year is the maximum amount of time a list can stay active.
As for them killing the list? Who really knows for sure? I am just guessing and under the opinion its a strong possibility, thats it.
Sure sink in an idea u created wit when in fact nobody can know for sure of anything. All u r trying to do is creating chaos wit all the 'what if' scenario. One can only question your true intention since ur providing nothing factual n only speculations within your point. I'm done even responding to u since u'll stop at nothing on top of ya dozens of alias simply to backup your point. B safe.
Yea, you know what? You are right M5Pct, I made up the idea of the job killing the list. After all I started this thread. No wait, actually I didn't...
And yet you continue to post, several times a day, in multiple threads, the same thing over and over. We all know that you think people will die on the list, and we also know that your opinion is no more valid than anyone else's, so how about we all move on with our lives until either the list gets cut or it doesn't.
