RE: At a total loss...........

i thought you needed your credits before you get promoted, not before the list comes out. and a 65 is most likely nowhere near the first class.

My buddy just informed me that someone he knows got notified by Education Tracking Unit to update his transcript, he scored a 65 before throw outs.

I got over a 70 and no one has notified me to update my transcript. I think something might be fishy. Tell your friend to make sure he is not getting screwed with.

Not everyone gets notified to verify their credits if their transcript is already on file. All you need is 60 credits to get hired but 96 credits to get promoted Im pretty sure there are people on our list that dont have the credits needed to get made yet. I also think someone with a 65 might not be in the first or second class but it all depends how many of the throw outs he or she picks up and also how much time u have in rank. I know folks that just on seniority/jst/run/medals accumulated 10 additional points that will be added to their score. That alone could shoot u to the top of the list. Once again im only relating what I was told.

I still say no. I have 93 credits on file got my grades yesterday and I will be sending my new transcript with 96 credits to the tracking unit Monday. I am sitting on an eighty before throw outs. I have to think if someone either a 65 got notified I would have too.

If that is the case you should have been notified if what I was told was true.

Btw backlog....no one is getting 10 pts added on from the fit incentive + seniority + medals. Whoever told you that is lying. Max seniority is 5 points and requires over a decade in rank. Max fit incentive is 2.5. That only puts you at 7.5. To get another 2.5 just from medals, you would need to draw up about 80 epds as a Sgt.

So unless there is a 10 year Sgt out there who has done the fit incentive the last 5 years and has drawn up 80 collars as a boss, no one has 10 added on. Heavy hitters will have 5, and those people will be few and far between. That's my add on with an 11/30/06 promotion and max fit pts. I know "gunz" who was in my bmoc has the same.

Those claiming Vets points get 2.5 as well.  Original poster was probably including that.  I agree their won't be too many pulling off that feat.

Forgot about those....you're right....but still....they would need a decade in rank and would have had to of done the fit incentive every year from '07 to '11. I doubt anyone fits that criteria.

There's always that "one" who probably did hit the trifecta or superfecta of Promotional Points, lol. Nothing to worry about however as it's definitely not a significant number of folks, if any...

I personally know folks with close to 10 years in rank, max fit points, and vet/medal pts totalling 10 additional points.  Is it rare you bet but impossible not necessarily.  Mind you just 5 points alone in this exam can cause someone to leap frog a lot of names.  It all depends on how many of the 19 questions the person picks up.  Once again, I just wanted to reiterate what I was told.  Someone posted he doesn't have the credits on file with education tracking unit and wasn't contacted by them with an 80 raw score so what I was told could be bogus.

There is a limit on additional points. For our Lt's test it was 8.751.

Good catch.  I probably should have read the NOE more closely and perhaps I wouldn't have been so blindsided on 10/29.

From 1534 NOE:

  1. The maximum total credit attainable on Seniority and Departmental Awards is 8.751 points. Credit for seniority will be granted before granting credit for awards. This will allow maximum use of awards. Any additional credit earned for awards beyond the maximum may be granted in a subsequent promotion examination, except for awards given partial credit as indicated in c above.
