Very likely. I have been saying this for weeks now. I'm guessing if your eligible and are between 1 - 500 on the list you will get made this year. Plenty of passovers and because of the need for sgts they will likely put in at least 6 classes of 65 - 75 this year. My sources include 2 full birds and a captain who works in puzzle palace. I'm not giving any names. But they speculate that the entire list will get made.
They also mentioned that a bunch of sgts who got promoted off the 09 test took the 11 test as practice for the 11 lts exam. There are a few people who scored well and made the list but are already sgts. Factor in these guys with other passovers for education jamups and those waiting for CARB and those who simply dont have time on and you will see them reach 500 in no time. Good luck.
Whats going to suck and slow down things is when the guys who have been passed up because of time on job or lack of credits actually become elgiable (have time/get credits) to go into BMOC. Its going to throw a big screwball into the mix.
Everyone becomes eligible on July of 2013. If you don't get made by then you are looking at a bit of a bottleneck of passovers that will slow things down. List numbers 700 plus will probably be affected. Maybe 800's If they skipped alot and hire every month. But I say again next year hiring will slow Down to every other month like the 09 test. They need sgts ASAP and that's why you will see them fly through it this year. Once the manning document is filled they will slow down but still continue to hire.
No Sgt was allowed to take a 2011 test, I did register for it for "practice", just to later get noticed by dcas that I was not legible to take the test cause I already held the rank of Sgt.
James haggerty is a sgt. Run him in the directory on the intranet. Then look at our list and you will see the same James haggerty on the list. I know the guy. And I know he took the test as practice...... So your wrong about that.....
I don't know for sure, maybe they got some sort of special exception because they associate with schools. I know that I wasn't allowed. dcas send a notice saying I wasn't eligible, didn't even refund the money.
You can take the test again and again. DCAS must have told you that you are not eligible to get promoted to the rank you already are.... It's like the SAT. You don't even have to be enrolled in high school to take it. People out there take it as an obsession to see how high they can score. And there is no limit to how many times you can take it.
I also heard from more than a few people actually before the exam, that DCAS was no longer allowing people to take these exams as a 'practice' exam if you already held the rank.... That's only hearsay tho. So who knows....
Holy ****... I even gave you a sgts name that did take the test..... Look it up he's 900 something. James haggerty.. Run him on the intranet telephone directory.... He is a sgt already and he's on our list... For god sakes when I go to work I'm going to take pictures and post it on this thread so you guys can see it..and it's confirmed our instructors took the test. It's the only way that they can do a remake because they don't have special privileges and can't see the test or get a copy by law. So they take the test to see what questions were on it to do remakes. Ask the CO of the 79. He took the test and he's an inspector...... You probably could have taken the test. It was a letter stating that the test is irrelevant to take or something of that nature.
Believe what you want I'm trying to help you guys with info.....if you don't want to believe me and check the evidence provided then go about your business. The point is that I post info and sources to back it up. Do the research yourself...
When I was studying for the Lt's exam, several Sgts signed up for the Sgt's exam as practice. Some slipped thru the cracks and were given an admission card, and many were denied taking the test and did not receive their money back. The instructors at the two schools that I attended mentioned that since they are not Sgts, they were allowed to take the test (though of course, their ranks are steps higher than Sgts). I'm figuring that good ol' DCAS didn't do their due diligence, and people who were any rank but Sgt were able to take it, and a lucky group who were already Sgts squeaked in somehow and were able to sit for the exam as well.
the sgt were not allowed to take the test higher ranks were as i know a agt who got a card from dcas saying that they were not eligible to take the test and also no lost the fee.
All of this where to go stuff is relative, I think it really depends on where you were a cop for 5 or 10 years.... I'm sure a patrol guy from an A house wouldn't mind becoming a Sgt in transit. Then again, I'm sure there are quite a few transit guys who have been pretty bored for a few years who would love nothing more than experiencing patrol.. That being said, throw me on that transit list also...
