they take a large account on where u live--but yes--needs of dept. their not sending a SI guy to the bronx. dont worry. but a LI guy could go to mutiple places i guess. honestly---i dont wanna put out misinfo--i dont know. ha---i ll ask tho. i do know he said that phone calls will be going out on Day 1 of bmoc and yes people---the hook is NOT dead. he deals directly with that and he said the orders come down on assignments and are changed left and right b/c of phone calls. also---im in low 200's---so im pretty psyched too b/c he thinks i could be 2nd class---poss 3rd. hope this helped...
They dont take into account where u live. Two of my friends who live in Bklyn were sent to the Bronx. One who lived in SI was sent to Harlem

As of my source at 1PP today---BMOC-4/30--75 cops. Notifications go out on 4/26 for chart change. HOWEVER---the list was signed TODAY and now is at OMAP for the go ahead. So---those first 75 are now a DEFINITE. Congrats!!! THere is another thing my buddy stated---their looking to send A LOT of them to IMPACT commands forthwith.Yes--a bulk always goes there but this class more than usual--theres a shortage of IMPACT sgts citywide.High turnover rate. So,all he could tell me was if u know anyone in that first class---start making ur calls NOW.He deals directly with that and their looking to stack those commands asap.Their looking to make 100 for the June class for the summer(details, retirements, etc). Thats all I got guys...........
Maybe a little off-subject but how much do they take into consideration where you live when deciding what command to send you to? Would they send an Orange County guy like me to Brooklyn South? I know I know, needs of the department, but really, how big of a factor is that in their decision making?

dont know what list number their up to honestly because my buddy deals with orders---meaning he gets the manning requests from OMAP and then they put that to paper(personnel orders). he was telling me he doesnt know until OMAP sends down those names---trust me---im in low 200's so i want to know to.im PRAYING for possible 2nd class.But--as soon as he tells he of course I ll post.....
hey ondeair...any word on boros needing the most bodies??? i only know of a few impact commands that are actually not to bad to work for. How about housing and transit??

They have sent SI people to the Bronx. Eastern LI people to Manhattan North. Bronx people to Brooklyn South. It happens all the time.
Onedeeair thank you very much for keeping us posted, it is much appreciated. My list is 22* hopefully we'll be in Bmoc together. Congratulations to all getting promoted on 04/30 and for the rest of us our time is almost near. Have a safe tour to all.
The only way they send a Staten island guy to the Bronx is to punish them. Or a queens guy to Staten island
Wait til you see precinct assignments on the last day of BMOC. The people without the phone calls will be getting the leftover precincts, without any regard for their commute.
They have not really sent any rookie sgts to staten island from bmoc. The only guy I know who got SI was as a punishment. Doesn't mean they won't but ....the last test nobody I know in Brooklyn got staten island and they have cranes.

That is absolutely 100% correct. Example: U live in staten Island and don't have a phone call and they have only Bronx left, guess what you're goin to the Bronx.

Absolutely incorrect. I work in SI and my pct got 6 rookie sgts in the last 2 BMOCs alone
6 sgts from the last 2 bmocs. And almost 0 every one before that. All those guys have cranes too. If they don't they are lying. I know first hand how hard it is to go to the island as a detective. Its even harder as a boss.
Well point is its hard. This conversation initiated because people think its a possibility going to staten island when not living there. Bottom line is you either have a crane or your on the PC's ****list. I really wouldn't worry about getting sent to the island if you don't live on it. Ten guys from the 09 test in my old command wanted SI. 0 of them got there.
For what it's worth, I just heard the same number and date from a source that I consider reliable. I'm in the high 300s so I'm hoping for some back to back classes, but it would be a great start for a big class this soon.

I'm in the same spot as you with a # in the high 300's. If they promote at a steady pace when do you think we'll go in, by December?

I'm really hoping that it'll be this year. We're probably in the 5th or 6th class, depending on numbers that go in, so it could be as soon as September I guess, if they go back to back from now until then, or it could be into next year. Obviously I'm keeping my fingers crossed for back to back classes.
I said it before.. With passovers ineligibles ect. The list #'s 1 - 500 who are cleared have a shot at making it before the end of the year granted promotions start in a few days. Which is practically already confirmed. Next year bmocs will slow down to every other month or worse. But still by the end of next year half this list will get made.
I just heard a crazy rumor.... The first BMOC class on 4/30/12 will recieve their shields upfront on the first day of BMoC. Did anyone else hear this? Or is this just a stupid rumor?
That does sound like BS...but it does bring up an interesting question - when does your pay scale switch? The day you get assigned to your new command out of BMOC? For most it won't make a difference, but for those going into BMOC that haven't hit top pay yet, it would be a nice bump.
I believe it is on promotion day. After all, didn't a few of the guys from the Lt forum confirm that you can enter BMOC under 5 years as long as you are going to be at 5 before graduation?
