Seniority gets way too much weight on this job. You have a bunch of do nothings with ten years on and they get better assignments than one with seven years although the 7 year co actually works and the 10 year cop does nothing ever
your argument is baseless. The one at fault in your scenario is the weak sgt that allows the do nothings to skate and doesn't take care of his workers, but i'm not gonna teach you how to be a boss. Bottom line is, your scenario is baseless and has nothing to do with our argument. We're talking about points on a Lt's promotional exam, not assignments for cops. Thank god you're a cop and not a trial lawyer because you'd be horrendous.
So stigggy let me ask you a question. What's your reasoning? Why exactly should you get extra points because you have more time on? Other than the mere fact that you got hired first

Residency points are meaningless in my opinion. There are hardly any decent places to raise a family in the city anymore and the places that are left are grossly overpriced and offer almost zero quality of life. ...the rest of the points you can at least make a weak argument that they factor into your abilities to be a well rounded cop.... Seniority pts: experience, Fit pts: you're not a fat slob, Medals: you're active. In any event, this whole argument has been beaten to death. You don't have any time in rank so you're not getting pts slaughter. Kinda just gotta deal with it at this point.
seniority points for being experienced......some rookie sgt ......fresh with patrol guide has upper hand. im not mad at seniority points....its the military thats f@cked up. they get 2.5 points !
Hey turd today is D day June 6 1944. God bless our troops. You are a disgrace . Piss on this turd
Military Points? Absolutely. No question. I've never served and I respect those who have. Seniority Points for time in rank? Absolutely. No question. Experience, maturity, judgement. Furthermore I think the city's DCAS chart regarding seniority points is just about right. Fitness Points? Absolutely also. Hey, they weigh a tad bit heavy in my mind. Too much awarded maybe, just maybe though. Don't be a fat slob. Maintain yourself for the love of God! Medals? I'm ok with that. Gotta be careful with that one though. There are certain "truths" that we know about medals. Enough said. They're not worth that much and they shouldn't be. You get a tiny shove up with medals. Thats about right. Residency Point? No way. They got rid of it and they were right to. Living in the city has positively no impact on what kind of supervisor you will be. Maybe I could get on board with a single residency point if its just the Police Officer's entry exam, but no way for a promotional.
Maybe Sgt. Hairbag and Innocent should visit our nation's capital and see the war memorials and Arlington National Cemetery. I have. The slow click-clack sound of horse shoes pulling a carriage with a flag covered casket through Arlington is sobering. Giving them a couple of points on an exam is the least we can do.
Just my thoughts. Now if you'll excuse me, I have reservations for two at Dorcia's.

Yea, Stigg is right, its no lack of ambition on the part of Sgt's who have been in rank awhile in not getting promoted sooner, the last test was in 2006 so it was about a 5 year stretch between exams. I mean the Olympics happen more frequently than Lt exams which is why that last Lt exam was just soooo wrong, they did us dirty.
Anyway if you look at the charts someone like me or Stiggityone are only getting 2+ points after like 5 years in rank? It is not an insurmountable point spread to make up on an exam. If you are truly a superior student of the Patrol Guide, couldn't you just cover a 2 or 3 point spread through hard work to prove even though you are a rookie Sgt, you do know your stuff?
