No just on the throw outs.  I'm pretty sure this upcoming week someone will find out the exact questions that are double answers.

The first 15 throwout/double answer from weeks ago was false. Aren't they still reviewing our protests ? How did we get back to 15 again ?

The panel concluded the protest 2 weeks ago.

is this the same old rumor? or a new rumor?

New one.

I couldn't find the old thread that listed the numbers of the 8 throw outs, but I think it was pretty similar; and that rumor was out before the review panel even met.  If the guys hearing things that agree about the 8 throw outs, are they hearing anything about doubles?  I wonder if they would just throw 8 out and not have any doubles?

I was told about the 8 throwouts about a week ago but no info on double answer was provided.  Whether this was brought up previously is unknown to me.

Here's the amended notice if anyone is interested in the wording. The city and DCAS covered every aspect of this test, it's not their first time at the rodeo...

The test may also include questions which require the use of any of the following abilities:

Analytical Thinking: Analyzing information and using logic to address specific work-related issues and
problems; involves the identification of problems, not implementation of solutions.

Judgment & Decision-Making: Reviewing information to develop and evaluate the relative costs and benefits
of potential solutions to problems and choosing the most appropriate one; implementing a course of action
determined by thinking analytically. While similar to Planning & Organizing, Judgment and Decision-Making
are typically applied over a shorter time frame.

Planning & Organizing: Establishing a method of execution to accomplish a specific goal over an extended
period of time; determining appropriate assignments and allocation of resources.

Management of Personnel Resources: Motivating, developing and directing people as they work, identifying
the best people for the job; managing employees needed to accomplish tasks.

Time Management: Managing ones time and the time of others in order to promote effective use of work
hours.

Stress Tolerance: Accepting criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with high stress situations.

Written Comprehension: Understanding the information and ideas presented in written sentences and
paragraphs in work-related documents.

Written Expression: Appropriately communicating information and ideas in written words and sentences so
intended audience will understand.

Persuading & Influencing Others: Causing others to change or modify their opinions, views or behaviors
using a variety of strategies.

Conflict Resolution: Negotiating with others to resolve grievances or conflicts and handle complaints by
developing a constructive solution.

Concern For Others: Acting in a manner sensitive to others needs and feelings while being understanding and
helpful on the job; showing consideration.

Teamwork: Developing mutual trust and cooperation while working together toward the accomplishment of
a common goal or outcome.

Integrity: Acting in an honest and ethical manner.

Dependability: Fulfilling obligations and acting in a reliable, responsible and dependable manner.

Initiative & Independence: Displaying a willingness to take on additional responsibilities and challenges, while
developing ones ways of doing things and guiding oneself with little or no supervision.

Attention to Detail: Being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks.

Self Control: Maintaining composure, keeping emotions in check, controlling anger and avoiding aggressive
behavior, even in very difficult situations.

Even if the finalized NOE had been issued a year ago it wouldn't have made any difference.  DCAS did not provide us with any source to prepare for those judgement questions.  Nevertheless most of us, including myself, did very well on that portion of the exam.

A few of them were rediculous, no question about it. But, I have a feeling those are the ones that will get tossed. The majority of those judgement questions you could narrow down to a common sense answer.

it depends, there is a big difference in a throwout or a double answer.

True, but I have a feeling double answers will be coming from the judgement questions and in basket (if there are any) For the most part I think most people got 1 of 2 possible answers on those so most will pick up a point.

I received information about the 8 possible throwouts a week ago and posted the actual question numbers in this thread.  My source didn't provide info on the possible double answers.

i feel that these

These are the rumored 8 to be thrown out 4,13,15,47,63,77,89,and question one hundred.

is very close to what is thrown out. How do I know, well i protested most of them at the protest session.

63 is the juvenile report question in which the question made no sense. The test takers tried to be crafty and ask on a note not realizing that the remaining d , e, and f had nothing to do with the note. It is auto 100% throwout, ill bet against anyone right now, who doubts it will be thrown out, but this is the only one i am 100% without a doubt sure of, the others i am pretty confident,

question 47 the cop getting a cd from a LT for going through a red light with rmp and getting into an accident. This I am 99% will be thrown out because the patrol guide clearly states in step 45 that the CO issues discipline. All it says earlier on in the procedure is that the patrol supervisor can find fault if it is a minor accident. Finding fault is not the same as issuing discipline.

Than question 13 and 10 go together , although 10 is not on this supposed list. In the in basket, question 13 was you picking a group of 4 cops that you were approving for an E-day. There is only one right answer ? right ? well if you go by the fact of how u are supposed to tackle an in basket, that it is a real time exercise and that your answer to an earlier question can affect a later question, than there is one answer. Now people will reply who says its a real time exercise. WELL, my answer to that is since the dawn of time, LOL, the in basket has been a real time exercise where you make decisions and later those decisions can have other effects, this is true for other jobs as well. Our job is by far not the only one with an in basket exercise. Anyways, now we get to question 13, which wanted to know which cop you will send for relief to cop ending tour on a hospitalized prisoner at the hospital. 2 of the choices, were cops who were at traffic court or other court, so they werent there. The next choice was a cop who was limited. Cant send a limited cop , correct ? SO the only choice left is a cop whom you just gave an e-day too. Makes absolutely no sense. I feel the only correct way to handle this is to throw both of those questions out. There is no way to get both of them right unless you just took a lucky guess. Most people got 10 or 13 right. Those whom got 13 right probably went back and changed their answer to question 10 or vice versa.

The other 2 i feel somewhat strong about, however they are judgement questions, is question 77 and 100. Even though these are judgement questions, again , this is an exam, not real life. It does not matter what we do in real life. If you have an answer that clearly violates a patrol guide procedure than something is wrong with the question or answer, or both. In both of these questions, the answer clearly has you as a LT authorizing admin over time to get a job done. This is a definite problem being that the patrol guide states only the PC, first dep, or chief of depart can authorize admin OT . As far as i recall a LT is not any of those 3 people. Again, people argue well in my command we do this and that, NO one cares what you do at your command. Patrol guide states who can authorize it and when. I would bet strongly as well that these will be doubles or throw outs.

These 6 questions I bet 99% will be thrown out. It isnt just because I protested them. But, after reading and re reading the questions closely, and checking the answers and patrol guide, there are big problems with these questions. I know there are many others, but to me there is no doubt about these. I hope everyone gets the questions they protested to benefit them.

I posted this just to refresh some people on certain questions. That's all. Good luck to all.

Not true, I found out about the throw outs about a week or two ago.  Multiple posters here have confirmed that the panel has concluded.

Apparently the mutants at DCAS screwed up again and didn't give everyone on the new Sgt's list their seniority, medals, and fitness incentive points. Rumor has it that they are going to recalculate everyone's list #. Since they are busy fixing this screwup I hope this doesn't hold up our list.
