Last I heard, DCAS was not happy with the number of raw score passers, or even the number with throwouts, so they are lowering the passing score to 65 or 66 and still throwing out 8/5.
This is so they have a long list and do not have to give another test for 4 or 5 years. Good news for those who pass, not good news for those who don't.
Again, just a rumour, but hearing it from Captains and above as well as other Sgts, so take it for what it's worth...
I don't think the review panel has even finished and the lowered passing score isn't happening. Completely ridiculous. Job would just give another exam in two years.
I heard from a few people about 2 weeks ago that they were lowering the score. I tend not to write on this s**t cause people get bent out of shape if they don't like it, but needout I heard as well. Did not hear that they were throwing questions out too. I'm so sick of waiting to hear results.
8 throw-outs, 5 double answers, and lowering the score to a 65 would mean that most people who have a 50 or better now would pass, and that is almost everyone. I would say one or the other has credibility, not both.
It's not civil service law, it only started with the January 2006 Sgt's exam. Kelly was pissed that cops with 32 questions wrong were getting promoted off the 2003 Sgt's list so he instituted the 70 raw score rule.
i say 65 or better and no throw outs or double answers or throw outs and double answers and score stay 70....def not both....list will be to darn long.....anyone out of the two choices would b fair bc it will eliminate the non studiers......
I have no idea what the civil service law says, but I thought the whole reason they implemented the minimum passing score of a 70 was to prevent people with a 55 getting promoted. Making the passing score a 65 and keeping the 8 & 5 would give people that got a 55 the chance to pass. It just doesn't make sense.
And by the way, didn't the rumor of 8 & 5 come out before the review panel even met?
Is this narcotics guy serious? Dcas doesn't decide what the passing score is.! Stigittyone is right about the 8 and 5. It's complete nonsense also. Please people, lets use common sense. I want to feel proud I'm on this job and continually I get let down. Please get me out of this rank . The stupidity is sickening
The application you signed for the test states that you need a 70 to pass so that kills that rumor and the 8 and 5 rumor was out before the board even began reviewing the protest so that kills that rumor. If it's not coming from BRAT I don't want to hear about it.
Listen, 70 is the passing grade......and same as they did MANY times, they will throw out/or double answer questions that were bad (technically wrong)..........they can't throw out unless they find something technically wrong with it.
Now, with this exam......probably ALL or most of the "judgement" questions can be tossed or double answered because they have no "authorized" reference material to say that it is in fact right or wrong. No judgement books were listed on the NOE.
So once they find out how many are going to get adjusted, the list gets adjusted according to the new key. Those who had already gotten such question correct will not gain another point (they will not lose it either).
If the list then (after adjustments) goes to, lets just say, 500, even though the 350 of them had a raw score of less than 70......... well guess what? they still make the list......because once the finalized list comes out, the raw list has no value, almost like it never existed.
Now people, be patient, stop asking so many no brainer and/or stupid questions. I know many of you are doing it on purpose but your driving everyone else mad.
I will limit my participation to serious inquiries......quite honestly this site makes me crazy and it becomes increasingly more difficult to follow.
