WTF IS UP WITH THE 2011 SGT'S EXAM?

wtf.gif

A lot of locker room chatter this morning about people dying on the list due to a bloated Sgt's list. Seems like a lot of people passed and not a lot of Sgts are needed for the coming years. Is it possible that a person can die on the list? What if any is a possible safe score?

Sunset, are you serious or are you in total denial? Someone hit the nail on the head with a prior post about dwindling headcounts. The fact of the matter is that there is a tidal wave of retirements on the horizon and that means that less supervisors are needed to supervise a smaller group. Why are you trying to fool yourself into thinking that the latest class will offset the avalanche of retirements that are coming? Bloomberg said it himself that he is not sure that the next budget will accommodate a large Academy class. In essence the next class after this one could be cut altogether or trimmed down. The 1K in the academy now is probably the last big class we shall see in a very long time and yet you sit there assuming that big classes are the coming trend. Who is fooling who here, bro?

I am not here to stir the pot or cry that the sky is falling but I do believe in the "real world". These are the facts we are presented with and you just choose to chalk it up to paranoia. WOW! I am a realist and I unlike you do not believe in Easter bunny or Santa Claus. If indeed the 2012 Sgt's test is 1400+ then it is most likely a safe bet to assume that they will not all get made in a 4 year period. This is a fact and not paranoia, so please stop chasing waterfalls, bro.

in all seriousness things arent looking good because there is only negative people posting here.  The fact is we won't know until we know.  I can't wait for this list to come out.. I dont care if its 1500 people long, at least I will know where I stand

Yeah things aren't looking too good. I mean the list hasn't even been established yet so we don't know how many have passed and also the 4 year countdown for this list has yet to begun, but still, it doesn't look good.

Coupled with the fact that many bosses are at or close to their 20th year and the Department is putting in decent sized academy classes of around 1k recruits, with 1300 rumored to go in come July, but still, it doesn't look good.

Give it a rest already. yawn

You have your opinions and I have mine. If you think you can predict what will happen over a 4 year span then you're the one who is delusional. With longevity points i'm looking at an 85.x and if the 2nd grammar question gets thrown out, add another point, so i'm pretty confident i'll get made but at the same time I have no reason to believe that everyone won't get made off this list.

Check back in 4 years.

Suntrust, congrats on your score but most of us did not have the luxury to score as high. I scored in the mid 70's and i am freaking nervous as hell but on the same token i am not living in fantasy land like you and some others on this forum. It is true that no one can predict the future but we sure as hell can come close. This is how some people get rich off the stock market via the speculation of a possible outcomes. Just be weighing the possibilities discussed on this forum and other threads one can conclude that some rumors are most likely true or false. To say otherwise is foolish. You might as well stick you head under the sand and change your name to "Oscar the ostrich". The fact of the matter remains that valid points have been brought up that point in a certain direction. If you choose to ignore that possibility then so be it but it behooves you to be honest with yourself or come the day that this reality manifests itself some of you will be crying us a river.

Beasty, I believe as you do. This test has been cursed from the beginning. People at my command are already discussing what the artificial cut off score will be. I am guessing that 75-77 will be the point of stagnation for some.

Thermon, what some of these chaps fail to understand is that our prediction are based on fact and not just plucked out of thin air. I can only equate it to forecasting the weather. The weatherman does not have any cognitive prediction skills but he predicts the forecast based on the information at hand. Same thing applies here but some guys refuse to accept the possibility that certain things are most likely going to happen. This is not to say that the weatherman is 100% right all the time. Same applies to some rumors. Unfortunately this forecast is calling for dark skies ahead with a chance of bad news. This weatherman is 90% sure of his forecast. Some will choose to be prepared and other will just wind up walking home all drenched.
Which are you?

By the way Thermon, I do not think the cut off score will be that high. In my humble opinion of I scored a 74 i would be worrying big time.

Does the cut off score count towards raw score or final score?

It will most likely be applied to final score. Trust me I wish I were wrong but too many guys with rank, a few "THEKEY" instructors and a whole bunch of veterans are saying that this has all happened before and will happen again. The laws of supply and demand are being applied here, ladies and gentlemen. At this time DEMAND is low and SUPPLY is high. What do you think will happen in the greater scheme of things? Some will have you think that the JOB will continue minting sgts even though the over all head count of the NYPD is decreasing. These are the people who never understood and failed Economics 101.

You title a thread in the form of a question and then you start your thread by bringing up "locker room chatter". THEN you get a reply from someone who makes perfect sense and you become defensive and irate. All of a sudden its not locker room chatter its a "fact." You clearly just want to stir **** up. You use the word "speculation" "safe guess" and "fact" all in one scentence. THE TRUTH is that you are just a **** stirrer that wants people to feel nervous.

Man power has been dwindling on this job since 2007 with the 25,100 starting salary that was putting in classes of about 1000 recruits or less. The result was 4 sergeants tests since then........ so shove economy 101 up your ass. Your theory has failed....

You don't think four years is enough time to promote 1500 people when they just burned through 800 in about a year and a half? I would think even if 1500 passed everyone will eventually get promoted, might just have to wait a while for some of the low scores to get called. Manpower is always a problem on this job, but I know a lot of sergeants around that 20 mark or above that are fed up with the BS and ready to move to Florida. There might be more demand than you speculate.

Frankly I grow tired of all the rumor mongers and the know it alls on this site.

NONE OF YOU KNOW ANYTHING!

All the rumors are CRAP!

All the know it all rookies know CRAP!

The fact of the matter is that we will not know a damn thing until the list finally comes out. I am tired of listening to people speculate about the test. I also grow tired of people with no time on the J-O-B giving advice on matters that they can not possibly comprehend.

PLEASE DO US ALL A FAVOR AND SHUT UP!

THIS IS ALL CRAP!

I have to get made. My whole future life is counting on this promotion and raise. I'm getting married and moving to some nice new diggs in jamaica. I need the money. But just in case I don't get made, I did get rid of my car to save money. I used to eat salmon everyday but now I cut back and just eat turkey. I'm prepared for all possibilities.

Mr. Officer, it seems you took the exams for all the right reasons but what worries me is what will transpire if there is a cut off score and you die on the list. Let's just say we have had too many suicides this year and I hope you do not over react.

waaaaaaahhh, waaaaaahhh, this is so stressful, waaaaaahhh. Grow up guy. And just by the fact that used "J-O-B" in a sentence, shows that you yourself are a buffy rookie.

I hope the people at DCAS ar reading this forum. It just goes to show what happens when a list is delayed. What always results is "CHAOS". You have cops attacking cops over matters that do not even concern the Sgts list. This could have all been avoided if they released the list in early Feb.

I will agree with the above quote.....This is all most definitely crap.

As far as I'm concerned you can all STFU. I'm not afraid of ANY of you! If you wish to settle this the old fashioned way just let me know. I'll meet you any where, any time. And remember, if you don't show up, I'll come get ya.

What is going on her? The lack of a list has driven some to challenge others. Officer Sea hag, you need to sit your rook ass down and shut up.
