I heard 8 and 5 is a done deal. The list will come out in March also they will reopen filing date for 2012 Captain test to allow those who made the Lt list to file for the Captain exam. It came from two good sources both 1PP.

Doesn't that imply that they'll promote of this list prior to the Captain exam? What's the use of reopening the filing period if we won't be eligible to take it?
After reading this I had to post my text from a friends with kind of corroborates the 8 double answers. This is the actual text from a friend. I didn't even ask where this came from but I was happy with those numbers. "Yo these are the questions they r going to throw out 4,13,15,47,63,77,89,100 Just so u know this is not a rumor"
If you read a notice of examination for the CAPT test you'll see that they change the qualifications. You no longer have to be lt but you have to be on a lt list only. Anyone who is on the list will qualify to take the test. The reason is a lack of candidats.
well if that isnt the biggest lie ive heard in awhile.......friday night - people sitting home with a 6-pack spreading false rumors cause they have nothing better to do i guess

That's the same wording for every promotional exam, you need one day in rank to be eligible for promotion. In other words, if you take the Capt exam as a sergeant you wont get promoted. No bueno lol. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong.

I would take your text with a grain of salt. I was sent the same text about two weeks ago, before the protest period even started. It's bull****.
i posted that because my source has not been wrong on anything dating back to the leaked dcas key, which was spot on (ouch). if you look at these #s they are some of the most talked about questions so this can be possible. the protest period is until 12-31-11 so who knows when the damned panel was put together.

Normally I would think the same. BS. But I can't help but think, maybe they have the THROWOUTS identified already. The double answers are the ones that really have to be debated and identified by the review panel. But maybe DCAS knows which ones are throwouts already just because it was a bad question.

That argument seems reasonable considering I've never seen a tentative answer key with double answers in it.

I wouldn't mind that- I got all of them wrong. I do love the "Just so u know this is not a rumor" part of the message!
After the protest period is over, a Test Validation Board (TVB) consisting of representatives of the employing agency(ies), bargaining unit (i.e., UNION) and DCAS, Bureau of Examinations is convened to review all protests. The TVB is empowered by Section 50-A of the New York State Civil Service Law, to change key answers, allow duplicate or multiple answers, or delete items from the test. After all protests are reviewed, the TVB prepares a report detailing its findings. After the eligible list has been established, all candidates who submitted protests will be called in to read the TVB Reports. The determinations made by the TVB are binding. Therefore, no further changes will be entertained.
My question: Do anyone know anyone in the SBA (or would it be the (LBA) who represents)to see if the TVB has been established? I know absolutely noone in the SBA
Doesnt matter--the sba doesnt give a crap about its members to begin with let alone get involved with this debacle...all they care about is there extra $ in their paycheck
Correct, either 1 day in rank or on a 'preferred list'.
that list is not the same as the lt. list you might be on but the following:
1400 ELIGIBLE LISTS
1450 PREFERRED LISTS
.1 BACKGROUND
.110 Description and Legal Basis
Generally preferred lists contain the names of former permanent employees of the State who have been separated due to reductions in force, reorganizations, reassignments or disability. Specifically, permanent employees may obtain preferred list rights pursuant to the following:
CSL §81.1 provides preferred list rights for employees who are suspended or demoted pursuant to CSL §80 or 80-a.
CSL §71 provides preferred list rights for employees separated after a leave of absence of more than one year due to a disability as defined in the worker's compensation law, who are now able to return to work but have not been reinstated.
CSL §73 provides preferred list rights for employees separated after a leave of absence of more than one year due to an ordinary disability, who are now able to return to work but have not been reinstated.
CSR 4.11 and 4.12 provide preferred list rights for employees appointed contingent permanent pursuant to these two rules who are subsequently separated due to the return of the prior permanent incumbent of the position.
CSL §70.2 provides preferred list rights for employees who are separated due to a transfer of function between State Departments or Agencies and/or Civil Divisions of the State.
Ret. and S.S. Law §102 c. provides preferred list rights for employees receiving disability retirement benefits who are determined to be able to return to active service.
Ret. and S.S. Law §507 d. provides preferred list rights for employees receiving accidental disability benefits whose benefits have ceased.
Civil Service policy grants preferred list rights to employees who refuse to accept an involuntary reassignment to a county other than the one in which currently employed.
