You need 64 for promotion. The Police Academy gives you 33 credits but they dont count unless you have them placed on an official transcript from an accredited college. Most colleges will not accept all 33 credits. For example when my brother was up for promotion he sent his academy transcript to CSI and they only accepted 12 out of 33. I on the other hand went to Excelsior college online and signed up for a Credit Bank transcript which is not the same as an academic transcript but the NYPD accepts it. It cost me approximately $270 but they placed all 33 credits in the bank and sent it to the Police Academy and it now shows that I have 62 credits from CSI and 33 credits for Police Academy training from Excelsior college for a total of 95 credits. BMOC gives you 3 more college credits and when I get those it will cost $25 more to have the 3 credits added and sent back to the Police Academy for a total of 98 which will give me enough for future promotion to Lt (96 credits needed) which is as high as I want to go. Its a very simple process. If anyone needs more info, private message me and I can walk you through the process.
Dogman1.......LOL.........I have 127 credits and a BA and I TOTALLY AGREE..........worst investment ever........i would have gone to a trade school if i knew how totally useless a BA (and the information drilled into me) would be.
