Notice to Report for Investigation

Ive heard of people get a Notice to Report for Investigation before they get promoted.  Is that something that everybody has to go through, or just people who've been jammed up before?

Does every promotion candidate have to go through that?

As far as I'm aware it just has to do with extra points. I've never been jammed up or anything like that. So basically if I wanted the additional points from my military applied then I would have to fill out a questionnaire, bring prof of my service etc.

In regards to military points can someone clarify something for me? Some people at the command are saying its 2.5 points and others are saying it's 5 total points. The only thing I can think of is that maybe its both in that some people are eligible for 5 and others just for half that. Anyone know? Thanks.

military points is 2.5 pts for promotion, 5 pts for open competition exam. or if you are a disable vet then you get 5 pts for promotion

It's also for guys who were on forced monitoring. Or modified.

What did you guys score? I at about a 90 with medals and long points. I believe I didnt check the box claiming my vet points. Will I still be notified if I didnt check the box claiming them? I live in Suffolk, so I assume Id get the letter a day after the City guys do. Ive also been on forced monitoring. You know how it is, if somethings happening to others and not you, you start getting nervous.

I'm sitting on a raw score of 76 and was on force monitoring, if you didnt get the letter your either gonna recieve it tommorrow or just didnt check off the box. I dont think you would recieve the letter if you didn't check off the box. If your are interested in applying for the credit you should call the DCAS scheduling unit (212) 669-3048.

No problem, but if you don't get notified I wouldn't worry especially holding a 90. You're probably better off saving it for the next Lt. exam if your interested. But getting your scantron won't hurt.

I definitely wouldn't use the points for the SGT's exam. Everyone will get promoted off of the list. This past LT's exam is the perfect example of why it's better to hold them for your next test.

I got it yesterday too for my military points. I checked the box when I signed up for the test but I am going to decline to use it and save my 5 points for next exam

5 points or 2.5 points?

""Civil Service Credit Preference: Ten-point additional credit preference toward original appointment for disabled wartime veterans; five-points for wartime service; and two and a half points for competitive promotional exams.""

Yoyo, no it means if you are a wartime vet you get 5 points for entry level. Promotions are only 2.5 points. 10 for disabled vets, 5 for wartime and 2.5 for promotional exams.

An important thing to know for people who are seeking the 1 throw out point in order to pass. I hope you guys do get that point but dont be fooled into thinking you passed because you received the notice to report for investigation. My friend took the 08 test and didnt bring home his answer key so he didnt know if he passed or failed but then he got the notice to report for investigation to verify his military points and was jumping for joy thinking why would they go through the trouble of verifying his military status if he didnt pass. Well his score was a 66. I hope you all get question 97 if its trown out, I just wanted to let you guys know this because you guys are going through enough stress as it is. Good luck to everyone and I hope this helps

Weird spacing. Should have been proof read before test was made final because it threw alot of people off from choosing it as most correct answer because nobody makes ununiform spacing when writing a sentence
