Does anyone remember what this question was? I can't remember, and scouring the threads of this forum, the best I can come up with is that the question had something to do with dismissal probation. Any idea? Was this a judgement question?

90 was putting you as admin LT and senior Sgt was mad that a newer Sgt got a spot he thought he should have been given. Wanted most effective response to tell him. Dcas answer was I understand how you feel. There must be a valid reason for the decision. If you like, I will find out for you.

I protested this question. The DCAS correct choice has the Admin Lieutenant tell the Sergeant that with regards to the reason the Sergeant was passed over, the Lieutenant "will find out for you". This implies the Admin Lieutenant will go direct to the Commanding Officer and ask for justification for the Commanding Officer's decision.
My issue with question 90, is that the stem of this judgement question does not provide us with enough information to properly make a choice.
For my protest, I referenced the book, Effective Police Supervision, which is required reading for the National Police Officer Selection Test, an exam used by many departments for promotion and hiring. In Effective Police Supervision, there are several leadership styles, Supportive, Participative, and Directive.
Question 90 fails to disclose the leadership style of the Commanding Officer.
Without knowing the Commanding Officer's leadership style, we do not know how he or she would respond to being approached with questions about his or her decision. With the Directive style of leadership, "authority should never be questioned and absolute obedience is required". If the Commanding Officer follows this type of absolute authority leadership style, the Admin Lieutenant might be put into direct conflict of command directives by approaching the Commanding Officer. This approach might be seen by the CO has a challenge to authority.
Basically, if the Admin Lieutenants Commanding Officer is a real heavy handed tyrant, the Admin Lieutenant might be getting into trouble by daring to knock on the CO's door and question past decisions. None of your business.
I went with the choice D, which allows the Sergeant to talk things over with the Admin Lieutenant, but stops short of having the Admin Lieutenant approach the Commanding Officer for further investigation. Maybe this is a reach, but I know a lot of people got this question wrong, so I figured I'd put my argument out there for whoever was interested. I'm mailing in my protest on Monday. Please feel free to point out anything I'm missing in my argument so I can make corrections.

Q.90) You are the operations coordinator of the precinct. there was an opening for a conditions team supervisor position in your precinct recently. Three (3) sergeants in your command showed interest and all three were interviewed by the C.O. and XO. Although you were not involved in the selection process, you were told to inform them of the results. The sergeant selected has the least amount of time in the precinct but seemed most proactive and displayed better leadership skills than the other two (2) SGTs. This morning the sergeant who has the most time in the pct came into your office and bitterly complained about the fact that he ws not appointed to the position even though he is the most senior sergeant in the precinct and aggressively works hard everyday. Which of the following would be most effective response?
A. Sorry if thats how you feel, but you're just not qualified for that position, they were not looking for a senior sgt to fill that spot.
B. I understnad how you feel, but being proactive and having better leadership skills weigh more than seniority for that position.
C. I understand how you feel but i am sure there must be valid reasons for the decision. if you want i will find out for you.
D. I know how you feel. Ive been skipped over a few times myself. If you want to vent, you can have a seat and talk all you want
still have plenty of time to mail your protests in, protest everything especially the judgement questions, #'s 63 and 64 the pins and missing questions
