I fear that just like some past rumors on here the one about this list being small a d the city fighting against a large number of throw outs might be true. It makes sense that the city/department would want this test in the rearview mirror. I can see the DEPT wanting another test given ASAP.
Even if there is a lawsuit the DEPT will promote who they want, when they want. If the suit is successful then they will do retroactive promotions. Any thoughts?
OHHHHH yes, hire lawyers to have a test thrown out. Sound really desperate. By the time you win that fight it would be four years and time to take another test anyway. Nobody thinks.
64 Captains passed a bull**** exam and by some miracle 15 questions were thrown out to make a list of 128. Stop the hating. Anyone who passed this Lt Exam will be promoted. If any found themselves on the other side of 70, they would be fighting just as hard for any point they could get. Now, the haters just want to be promoted in May. I respect someone who passed this test and will still be down at the protest.
If all of the approximately 241 knew they passed before the answer key was posted, then kudos to you.
I did very well on this exam and will be attending the protest session to fight for those that are on the cusp of passing.
You will be fighting to get questions thrown out that benefit yourself. Not for people who are on the cusp of passing. No one here is so noble. See you at the protest, I will be the one fighting for myself.

Not true. I did pretty well and I'll be protesting for all of my fellow sgts. But not the ones that I got right because that might cause my list number to be higher.

I got an 85 on this exam (Oct 29 exam just in case) and should be on the top of the list either way so I have no need to attend the protest session. I'm going for my close friends so they can get those few extra points they need.

@wereinbacklog: that shows a lot of character in helping a fellow Sgt. Sgts don't have the easiest rank on this job. You get it from ontop and below. The job is really shot if a Sgt can't put themselves in the shoes of another.
I did the full protest process on my Sgt's exam eventhough I passed. I did it to help specific friends, help myself or anyone that could benefit. Now I am on the other side of the fence.

I am going too, but I am only planning on protesting what I got wrong. I am not so noble that I can fight what others got wrong. Been a delegate 7 years. I think I help Sgt's enough.

Theres nothing wrong with that. Im protesting only the questions i got wrong. If others pick up points great. I have a 66%. Im not protesting questions i got right so somebody can get made over me. You can call me a dik but at the end of the day its every man for himself.
A play on words, I get it. So like instead of Sue as in litigate, you make it Sue as in short for Susan. You are really clever. Cheers, you must have done really well.
One would think that they would want a smaller list to move through faster and have another test sooner than every five years. Look at the current list. It is coming up on four years and they have only reached the half way point. If they had a list of 200 then it would be finished in two years instead of a list of 500-600 that would last four years. For some reason this current list moved at a snails pace. To put it in perspective, the 2003 test all 1000+ persons on the list were promoted by 2007.

I failed big time, however taking this exam to court will only hold things up for all, passers and failures. Either dub, trip, or throw out 10 to 15 questions and make a good size list (that will get promoted) or lets take our loss and prepare for another exam next year (like the capts exam).
I must be blind. its a good idea. what makes you think that these questions will be overturned during the protest? From reading on the site none of the judgement questions were overturned on the captains test. they definitely have to to before the judge for the ruling. they have no right or wrong answer. period. if they can't site a reference to it they can't say that my choice was wrong.
The Capts test only had 3 judgemental questions. We had at least 25. I dont believe that they can back them ALL up! Why is your OPINION BETTER THEN MINE? ITS NOT! ITS AN OPINION!
I think we can win a protest on some of them, NOT ALL. Just off the top of my head the OEEO, CRYING PAA, COP THAT CALLS FOR AN E-DAY, TOILET PAPER can go either way. im sure that there is more but i've been tring not to think about this BS exam, so a lot fell out of my head by now.
I think all the judgement questions should be thrown out but there is no way to prove that one answer is better than another. If the job wants to defend those questions they can just say this is who we are looking for and thats that. Has anyone ever taken the Suffolk County Tests. 20 police questions and 80 personality questions. Its still a civil service test but they want who they want.

I'm sure Just Wonderin' meant to say "G.O".s In the meantime I'm trying to think of a single time I was helped by a delegate and I'm drawing a blank, much like I did for most of these stupid judgement questions.

If your opinion was one of the stupid answers like just ignore the crying PAA, then that is wrong. They probably set it up that way so that they can easily make those doubles so that the list will be the size they desire.
Either way, they shouldn't ask judgemental BS on these test. This dept holds us to the PG. When they draw up CS or CD's they quote the PG procedure. The dept is making the decision for you, aka 207-23 step 1 2 3 4 5 etc......... The crazy thing is that EVERYONE DID WORSE ON THE PG QUESTIONS! IF THIS TEST HAD ALL PG QUESTIONS, I DONT THINK ANYONE WOULD HAVE PASSED!!!!!!!!!!!POORLY WRITEN PERIOD
Not sure what they're looking to do with this test. After taking it my initial reaction was they were trying to come up with as small a list as possible. I can't see them throwing out 10-15 questions, they'd end up with another list that will last 5 years.
stiggity me too. As I told you, I thought I had a 70, but I actually had a 72 with no. 2 being "B" and no. 42 being a triple answer. I got knocked on my ass from 35,36,37 39,40,41 and would have had 42 wrong if it werent for the triple answer. WHat the F---? What were those, PG questions?
It sounds like a good idea in theory but in reality it would probably take a couple of years for it to happen. I'd rather they just gave another test in 2 years or so, and I'd hopefully be more prepared for that one.
