Economics 101 dictates that when Supply out performs Demand that most of the procuct shall remain on the shelves. In a perfect world Supply Matches Demand but as we all know in these economic times Demand is decreasing and Supply for teh moment is abundant.
Product= people who passed
Demand= the needs of the department
The needs of the job are shrinking along with the size of the workforce. This is Bloomerg's main goal. He is actually attaining the same result without laying off people. In the coming years you will see the greatest decrease of man power at the N.Y.P.D as the huge classes of 91, 92, 93, & 94 start a stampeed for the doors.
What does all this mean? It means that the demand for new Sgt's will decrease steadily especially when the Mayor is not replacing the bodies leaving via attrition. The BMOC classes will start to diminish in frequency as the size of the rank and file also diminishes.
Early reports are showing that this test has yielded a high volume of soon to be promoted Sgts. The problem is that when you apply the simply laws of Economics 101 then supply is no long is on par with demand. As a result production is artifically decreased in order to meet or equal the decreased demand. An artifical balanc is attained.
It is quite simple when one applies economics 101 to the problem.
"END RESULT"
Not everyone will be made off of this list. Some will expire on the list. Those who make the list will not be made as fast and there is a huge possiblity that there will be a cut off score instituted.
simplesgt i think u are a imposter an alias for this troll notyetsgt stop your nonsense and no i didnt get a 70 i have an 85 plus my longevity award and possibly if i decide to use my pts will have a 95
Why don't you stop being a buzzkill... What's with people were all cops... COPS not econimists or theorists get over yourself. Why can't you allow the enjoyment of passing a test be enjoyed. Wth! I'm not worried about a cut off if it happens... It will happen... But it HASN'T happened let's enjoy the release enjoy the moment that for some their hard work paid off.
This isn't meant at your post in particular but its so sad and a testament to how cops don't stick together.
It hasn't even been 24 hours yet sheesh! Can we live for a lil bit?
All this anger is not necessary. It is my opinion and if you do not like it then move on. Save the nastiness for you fat wife. What is up with all this chest thumping and false bravado. You do not intimidate or scare me so save it for the children on the streets.
No its not about intimidation or scare tactics its about who are you? A cop just like many on this board.
It hasn't been a full day and why aren't you enjoying the fact that you passed? Instead of theorizing how people you don't know aren't gonna get promoted?
And even if they don't guess what they passed it once why can't they pass it again?
Funny how I am condemned for tossing my 2 cents into the mix. Ironically if I would have agreed with the flip side of this debate then nothing would have been said on the matter. For your information you are no one to deny my voice. If you do not like what i said then simply read it and move on instead of approaching me like some clown I am suppose to fear. Be a better man and just go about your business instead of attacking me for what I think will most likely happen. If reality hurts then just flush yourself out of a 747 toilet and be done with it.

What i find amazing is that people still refuse to see the writing on the wall even though it is pocking them in the nostrils.
My post from back in November lays testament to what has been on most of our minds since this exam ended. It saddens me that some of you still reside in the astral plane of fantasy when it comes to a matters that are most inherently real.

There's enough C.O.s, X.O.s and LTs that need to be taken down a notch or two, and there enough Det's that think they are bigger then life itself. Give them all rank of Sgt and they can scrap our list and just give another test in a few years.

If you ask me I will agree that the hiring is slowing down. Sooo with that said. They will take 4 years to hire this entire list as opposed to giving out a test every year..... maybe they will hire 400 sgts a year as opposed to 700. Maybe they will hire a ****load because they plan to put in large recruit classes in July...who knows. Lets see what happens in a few months. Remember they did a list of 780 names in about a year in today's downsized Dept...
I am just curious to know who you are quoting when you say that there will be a huge class going in the Academy come July. Last I read the City was trying to push 1000 into the academy for July. I say trying because the economy keeps throwing the current budget a curve ball. They might just put in half only. Hell, even if they made it 1500 it is still not enough to fill the void of the 5K+ slated to retire this year alone. Sorry but you are living in la-la if you fail to do the math. The attrition numbers are surpassing the replacement numbers and that adds up to a slow down in making Sgts. No one knows the future but you can basically predict some semblance of the truth with the information at hand.
