Why get the test thrown out?

I think that all of those discussing lawyers and the media in regards to throwing out the exam need to slow down because your going to look silly when the answer key comes out and you get an 85. I guarantee all those people seeking to have the exam tossed will all disappear once that answer key comes out they find out they didn't do as bad as they thought. And anyone comparing their answer key to the one posted on this site should not waste their time. If the talk is correct and 15-25% of the people pass, the chances are that only 3 of the 20 people who posted their score sheets passed. I love the debate and the discussing of the exam itself, it's a great outlet, but we will never hear from FNM again if he gets 20 wrong. Just saying

I agree nassau. Everyone is walking around like they failed and did poorly but I don't believe it. The test is not getting thrown out so lets focus back on questions

The people who posted their positive results are content with their scores and may very well be the 15-25 % that passed. Most people will only post positive results.  Those with negative results according to this key will most likely not post, it'll just be salt in the wound.

There are hundreds of people who visit this particular thread that took the 2011 lt exam and I'd say 10-20 positive results posted seems about right in the passing rate people are speculating.

As far as the key, I honestly think it's as accurate as it could possibly get. You can get a general idea of where you stand.

No, but once I get a chance, I'll send it to you. Btw, good work on compiling these keys. I appreciate the effort.

I'm at 28 wrong with a conservative 8 split/doubleanswers/throwaways.

Worse case scenario if I only pick up 3 of the 8 split, my speculated 72 will increase to 75 and the remainding 5 dropped question will bring me down to a 70.

That's pretty good.

I don't think a 75 will cut it for this exam for some reason. I didn't do to good with either but I think the 80 and up measure is still going to be in effect for this test maybe 79, 78 but thats it

A lot of those who were top 25 in the 2007, 2008, 2009 SGT exam and studied intensely are praying for a 70. I can't see 78-80 being cut off. I think no one dies off this list.

Btw, thanks NYG, I hope I pulled this one off.

That's exactly right.. The very people demanding the exam be tossed (NEVER will be) will do an about face if they score well, say it was fair, claim everyone else was the retard, pray for late 2012 spring promotions and then curse anyone who even mentions the word lawsuit!! Wouldn't want to unnecessarily hold up anyone from walking up on that stage at 1PP. HYPOCRITES!!

I totaly agree with you. Instead of doing what's right because DCAS & the department made up their own rules, the only thing they will care about is getting promoted.

Here's some food for thought

A lot of members were totally confused and upset by the direction DCAS and the department took with regards to this exam. Alot of you are angry now and want to fight back, and I think you all have the right to angry and upset, especially those who put their lives on hold and studies hard.

But I wonder how many of you will still be willing to fight once the official answer key comes out and realize that you actually may make the list? Judging from the prior lieutenants exam making the list does not guarantee that you will be promoted. How many of you will look past it all and realize that there were serious issues with this exam and still fight?

The Vulcan Society of the FDNY won a court case in federal court because many questions on their entry level and promotional exam mirrored that of a SHAT exam and did not reflect their actal rules and regulations or job description/duties of a fireman. Even though part of the basis for the lawsuit was based on discrimination, if you read through the actual court document, you will see that it was about more than that.

The agency that took on this case was The Center For Constitutional Justice located at 666 Broadway, 7fl. 212-614-6464 and the lawyer was Darius Charney.

I will share this link with you all and you be the judge. http://www.justice.gov/crt/spec_topics/fdny/documents/doc_385.pdf

I did not read the entire document but it started getting interesting by page 10 and the final decision.

I hope in spite of this fiasco, a lot of you will not only make the list but also get promoted.

Good luck and happy reading

Pass or fail, I would have no problem if lawsuits would get this test tossed before the answer key came out, and another "proper" test was given VERY shortly. Seriously, get 10 smart Lt's in there for a week, hire them based on merit and not hooks, they could write a good test.

Trying to hold the test up after the answer key comes out would not be fair to the people who did pass in my opinion. If this thing was invalidated before the results saw the light of day, I would have no problem with it, and I am pretty sure I did pass this poor excuse of an exam.

No matter what happens (lawsuits or no lawsuits) you going to have to wait another 4 years anyways. It would take years before a lawsuit is settled and a proper test written (just look what happened to the 2006 FDNY test)
