Ed, did you feel good about the strictly PG questions, from like around 18-68? I thought it was very tricky and could have had a lot of questions appealed with double answers. Also certain procedures leave it up to you an interpretation of what something in the book means, where most test prep and in the past real questions would make it clean cut using examples often mentioned in the PG.
Without giving anything away, there was an 216 question that had you interpreting a definition from the example the exam writers gave, but is not so clean cut in the book. There was a 205 question that had a fact pattern where you didn't follow the procedure correctly and then had a choice from 218 which was mentioned in additional data in 205? How could you pick "most correct" as in perhaps a sequence of events in a fact pattern, when there is a correct answer in additional data that doesn't really follow that sequence in any type of chronological order.
There was a question from 203 with two correct answers regarding an inspection being done requested by your CO and reporting the results to your CO. Many of the PG questions I thought had two right answers and could be interpreted in many ways. Poorly written vague patrol guide questions.
Then the math was also vague as in what they wanted you to calculate? The grammar was a whole lot more difficult than I ever imagined. The reading comprehension wasn't bad, but was very time consuming reading the story several times to eliminate the bad choices. The inbasket was a hot mess, but I don't think I bombed it. The judgement questions were completely subjective and I really don't know how that will be graded?
I felt ok with PG questions, but I def saw double answers. Grammar was very hard, and reading comprehesion was time consuming. I def agree with that. In basket got me frazzled, I skipped it and went back to it at end. Once you came to terms with it I don't think it was hard, just different and I'm usually real good at the in baskets.
I wouldn't mind seeing like 5 reading comprehension questions again, but they are very time consuming. The math wouldn't have been so bad if the exam writers explained better what they were looking for, I mean "most productive"? Or most improved squad? By actual numbers, percentages, based on how many people in the squad? I dunno?
The grammar was too difficult. I know the job wants better supervision of report writing, but as long as a cop can spell out the statute in the penal law and apply it to the given report should it matter if his sentence structure is not perfect? Do we not abbreviate common terms like SILA, SPI, PI, W/O P&A, perp, c/v, etc???
I mean past grammar/spelling questions were very easy just knowing the difference between too/two/to, whether/weather, lose/loose, there/their, etc. This was a bit extreme with a couple of questions.
The PG questions were poorly worded and had vague fact patterns in a few of them, many could have double answers. Also the PG questions didn't have enough "give me's", most were difficult.
The judgement questions were subjective and I really have no clue how I did on them. I also thought it was a bit unfair to give 4 choices that contradicted the actual book in favor of a personality test in a few of them? The stolen toilet paper, the crying PAA, the Lt authorizing admin OT, vehicle checkpoints, and the TSOP with the noise complaint were a few gems.
Finally the inbasket, it had multiple Roll Calls, often didn't tell you what time of day it was so it was difficult to apply a TR entry in a map question when its unknown if that event is occurring yet? Also they didn't lock you into being any one Lt or give any criteria to recommending people to open command positions? Some of it I thought was subjective, unless I missed something? Usually a well written in basket, you can eliminate the bad answers from the material given, I was running out of time, so I cannot say with certainty that this in basket didn't do this, but I sure as hell couldn't find those pieces of material...

I studied, but don't know how to feel!! Here it is: 1-B,2-B,3-B,4-C,5-D,6-B,7-B,8-A,9-D,10-B,11-A,12-D,13-B,14-C,15-A,16-B,17-B,18-D,19-C,20-D,21-C,22-D,23-D,24-C,25-C,26-C,27-B,28-D,29-B,30-C,31-D,32-D,33-D,34-C,35-A,36-B,37-D,38-C,39-A,40-D,41-B,42-A,43-B,44-C,45-B,46-A,47-B,48-B,49-A,50-A,51-D,52-C,53-C,54-C,55-D,56-D,57-B,58-D,59-B,60-A,61-A,62-D,63-B,64-B,65-D,66-D,67-D,68-D,69-B,70-D,71-C,72-C,73-C,74-D,75-B,76-A,77-C,78-D,79-A,80-D,81-A,82-D,83-C,84-D,85-A,86-B,87-D,88-B,89-C,90-C,91-C,92-D,93-C,94-C,95-B,96-C,97-D,98-B,99-A,100-C
10 and 13 were opposing questions. If you picked B for 10, then the only choices you had left for 13 were a limited cop and two cops who had AAB. I think A was probably the right answer for 10.
Question 80. You just took a civil service test written by a group of people with a combined 4 months of patrol experience. You make a stop and have unprotected sexual relations with the precinct PAA to stop her from crying, then go home and realize your dog has eaten up the toilet paper that you stole from the precinct. Being frustrated, you go into work on your RDO and decide you're going to take a look through the peep hole into the female's locker room, aka the structural defect. You hear some comments that a female cop may or may not be getting harassed, or maybe she just needs an e-day for her sick baby. You would be MOST least correct to do some of the following except:
(a) WHAT? (b) I better go to Park's and get some new blue shirts because I'm going to be wearing them for a while (c) Uhhh... the logistics section? (d) Oh sh-t, the test is over in 10 minutes and I'm only on question 80.
