No cut off everyone will make it, large classes of retirees becoming eligible in the next few years, the job always needs sgts. I'm gonna guess anywhere between 1500-2000 for the list. They promoted 700 people in this past year. It probably won't stay at that rate but I'm going to say if you're at the bottom of this new list you'll have around a 3 year wait
They can't do a cut off for this test due to the fact that there is a passing grade of 70. back in the days they were able to have a cut off because there was no passing score, the passing score was based on a curve.. So don't worry this test will be good for 4 years just like the 06 LT exam.. The only thing is we might be waiting for a while till we get made.
I'm just hoping the people that make the cut are Conditions, Anti-Crime and SNEU personnel, preferably with less than Five (5) years on, OCCB and other details. And the people that die on the list are T/S Operators, Cell Attendants, A.D.O.'s, RMP Coordinators and Sectors.

Someone stated on another thread that there will be many who pass. i feel the same. I have taken numerous test in my career and this one seemed easier than usual. I did quite well on this one. I will go out on a limb and say that about 2500 or more will pass.
Tru3 that i think 1500 passed because there was alot of dom people taking the test..those are the same people that when they out in the street they think they know everything because they got time on the job and they are licking the bosses azz..but when it comes to a little test they are so dom and dont even have time to finish a 6hr long test and they want to blame it on the poor dcas people...
When do we find out the actual amount of people that passed? Does DCAS release that the day the real answer key is released? Or do we have to actually wait for the list to get made after the 2009 list finishes?

Yeah I have to agree...1500 is still 15% of those who signed up, which is more than the usual 10% or so on past exams.
No I don't think there will be a cutoff. Though, I do believe if more than 1200 cops Make the list there may be those that die On it. It may be a gross score of a 78 Or maybe even an 80 to ensure a promotion

to be honest I wouldnt mind waiting 3 years as long as i get promoted, ive had too many bosses with little or no time on that dont know what they are doing.
I talk about the knowing the "Subtleties and Nuances" of patrol to reassure myself that i have not failed
I call others Kool-Aid drinkers. (I do not know what "Kool-Aid drinker" even means, but it sounds funny and all the guys with time on say it, so saying it will make me sound cool)
I have worked for the Department fifteen (15) years and still do not know how to put in an online or conduct a warrant check. If there is one (1) prisoner in cells and i am the cell attendant it is too much work for me
November 14 I will tell people "I would have passed if i studied"
I will retire soon and pursue a career of posting to "The Rant" about the good old days of the job and how it was ruined by rookies and people of different ethnicities
@ Patrol You truly believe your spot in Crime, ... etc is due to your immense experience as a 5 year wonder? Or maybe something more like you to having chin nuts on a daily basis? What did you do to deserve your spot other then have Daddy make a phone call for you. I am sure the streets are much safer with all those pot smoking criminals behind bars.
People always speculate how many will pass after each exam. This one is no different. I personally guess about 600-800. Maybe it's wishful thinking on my part so that I can take at least one more test before I retire. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Weak
Patrol = Failure and Yoyo718,
When you make boss and get your squad, man up and let them know how you feel about them.
I'd like to see how far that attitude will get you.

LOL. Being proud of having time on patrol is like being proud of being the senior cashier at McDonalds. And I'm sure senior cashiers are just as irrationally proud of their time on as our patrol guys. But if that helps them sleep better at night god bless them. It's good to feel good about one's self.

Even though you've failed the test four (4) times now and spent $2500 on The Key you still have your seventeen (17) years on Patrol tobrag about and no one can ever take that away from you. (And no one would ever want to)
If you studied consistantly from day 1 you shouldve passed. I say around 1200 will make the list and there will be no cutoff score, nor will anyone die off the list.

I would like to thank the Patrol Officers with "time on" for making this opportunity possible with their extensive laziness and lack of ambition. Yesterday I was Impact. Tomorrow I will be doing your evaluations and letting you know when you can take meal.

The Kool Aid post was hilarious, but this one is weak.

I'll take the negative response to my question directed at Patrol = Failure and Yoyo718 as indication to thier cowardness.
Some of you seem to forget one important factor. If you do find yourself on patrol or an activity driven command as a sergeant, you're going to wish you were a cop with 18 years on the job and about to retire. Guess what, you'll have 15 to 14 years remaining in a department and city that will bury you at the drop of a hat.
Stastically speaking, one of you tools is going to get seriously jammed up, and when that happens, think of this thread and what you've posted about "time on the job" and how your world is about to be turned upside down and destroyed. By the time you've finished reading this post, these thoughts will have burned into your memory and will haunt you endlessely when that day comes. Just remember, this dept and city hates you. Just give it some time, and you'll see. I'm done.

So we're supposed to wait eighteen (18) years to get promoted because it's better to stay a P.O. until almost retirement? Is that the backward logic you're using to rationalize YOUR failure?
You're the one that seems to have spent eighteen (18) years seeking love from the department and have just now figured out that the feeling isn't mutual. Us three (3) year guys find love from our mistresses and adopted puppies.
