If im not mistaken that Satcom guy did say a long time ago that the list will end before he recruit class graduated. I would have never believed it because there were 450 names left as of june.
That would mean that 80 for late october/november would make more sense than 30-40 cause those new Sgts would b on place and ready to go, come on 80, come on Brat :)
It makes sense...With 40 in November, it will bring us to 710. leaving 70 people on the list. So im assuming a large class in December of 80 to finish the list out.
Hey, at least the December class will (probably) graduate on 12/23 and get both Christmas Eve and Christmas off (and get to be the newly promoted shakebox Sgt at the New Year's Eve detail)
Things are falling into place...If they put this class in on the 24th then theoretically the last class would go in November 21st and get promoted December 16th.
Just spoke to a guy who is in this class and he said they didn't say anything about putting people in on the 24th. All they've told them so far is that there will most likely be 30-40 getting promoted upfront on the 28th. I thought they couldn't physically accommodate more than 80 people at a time, so if they put in those 40 people on Monday where will they fit them? Then again, they will need to have their uniforms inspected and probably some kind of insurance paperwork done so it might make sense... Then again, when has this job ever done things that make sense.

Ah, but they fit 40 people in a smaller classroom for that Phase 1 class while the last BMOC group was in, so that week early for 40 people makes sense to me now. The real question is if they put them in will they then put 80 on the following Monday because they can accommodate 120 people, or will they wait 4 weeks?
80 is the most the instructors and LT say they can accommodate at one time. It's not about having a physical seat or classroom, they break u up into squads on alot of days with some doing computer training, some going for Tazer training, some going to Gold Street in Brooklyn, u have to do a day at task force for disorder control. It's about scheduling all the different things and on some days everyone is just in class listening to all the guest speakers from like every division on the job. They will not do a class of 120, sorry to burst your bubble.
And 80 is about the most they can fit in that classroom, so otherwise all the speakers who come in would have to give their long boring speeches/presentations to 2 seperate groups if you were in 2 seperate classrooms.

I was at the phase 1 a few weeks ago and the only reason they got us in for it was because the sept bmoc was away from the academy at outside training. I'm in bmoc now and the last they told us was 30-40 oct 28th upfront.
They will NOT do a class bigger than 80 (the Lt
in charge stated so when I went through. He actually said they don't even like doing them that large), I know it's just wishfull thinking on your part cause you wanna get made, but it won't happen. Good luck your time will come, it's just around the corner, the list is almost done.

They WILL not fit more than 80 in the SLC classroom. I'm in the class now and we are having our class on Friday in the auditorium because theSeptember class is returning for one day for their "end of field training/last day". Again, as others have posted, the Lt. told us that 30-40 will be promoted upfront on the 28th, SLC to follow.
Ive been around lomg enough to know that it doesnt pertain to us....but, It did slow the lists progress. It took 680 sgts 3 years to made despite a need for the rank.
Also remember, as of 6 months ago the most junior patrol guy had 2 years on the job. They stopped hiring cops for about 2 years. They were putting in clases of 100! the attrition rate and suspension/modification rate is double that anually.

How do you figure? Although the last Sgt exam was Feb 2009, the 1st group from that list didnt go into SLC till Nov 2010. This list moved very, very fast. It's just took over a year (I believe it was like 1 1/2 years) for them to establish it and start promoting off it.

I can confirm what Phantom said. The Lt. said he hadn't heard anything about more Sgt's for November. He said 16 Captains and 29 Lts. to go in. Earlier this month he had told our group about the upfront promotion but it sounds now like things may have changed.......
LOL........as far as i know, 16 captains, 29 Lieutenants and what is still an undetermined amount of Sgts (not counting those already in bmoc) for Oct 28th.
I would say about a week before, the calls shall go out to those who will be in that "up-front" class.
I was talking to someone that has given me very accurate info with a very small margin of error and after 5 minutes of talking about the protests...I asked him and he said that they indeed have been actively trying to promote everyone before the recruit class graduates. He also said that the classes have been in place since June but upper management doesnt want to rock the boat with recent budget restraints as to seem wreckless. There can possibly be an upfront thing but it would involve a potential for criticism that upper management wants to avoid. Just my 2 cents. But for those that this will help, for your sake i wish they do put a class in.
