Being Evaluated For Promotion

Just throwing it out there but I've been hearing that the job is looking to promote on merit and evaluations, not only by a persons score. Basically just passing isn't going to be good enough anymore. Anyone else hear the same thing? Apparently it's on the SBA's website.

If I remember correctly bloomberg talked about wanting to changing the civil service promotion process. I forget the details but it is a possibility in the future that just getting a passing score on the civil service exam won't get u promoted. They changed it in early 2000's to must getting a 70 to get on the list. I'm sure they can some how manipulate it so there are more requirements to get made.

Yea I don't know where it is, I was on a detail and the Sgt said he was at his command looking at the SBA site and he came across it. I was looking for it but I can't seem to find it myself.  I don't know if you have to be a member.  Maybe when you log in it might bring you to another page and it could be listed there?

What I heard is that they want to bring score bands. Basically you would get lumped into a certain band based on your score. Bands may go from 100-90, 89-80, etc. If you get a 95 and I got a 90, I could theoretically get promoted over you because my uncle is a chief. Now they cannot go to the band below until they exhausted the higher testing band, but think of the LT test. You have to score well to get promoted. Imagine you get an 89, I score an 80, but I get promoted over you and you die on the list. Not fair at all.

in that respect, it is unfair... but i do see the need to bring in more merit for promotion than just a multi choice test.. we all can think of a reason lol. just look around ur pcts.

They need to consider more than a test. There are way to many bossess that have never done any real Police work. If the new way to is to get experienced bossess then its good. If its to hook up people with hookd then no good
