if they give u probation as a disposition, it will.. other than that, i guess if its cleared its ok

oh so if you cleared with no probotion you are good to go.. I heard you have to go in front of a board? Do you know whats that about?

Yes it can stop u. And once IFO the board the chiefs determine whether u should be a boss on this job. Depending on the charges u may get passed up a few times and be IFO the board each time

Do they eventually promote you or they keep passing you up till the list expires?

You will have to go in front of a board and they do not have to promote you. It's whether they like you or not. They have passed people over plenty of times and let the list expire. They do not care.

My bosses have told me that even if you go before the board, they will probably, though not always, promote you because the department does not want a lawsuit on its hands. Its just easier to give someone enough rope to hang themselves and then demote someone on probation than to deny a promotion and run the risk of a lawsuit. A person may be skipped over, but they usually (again, there are exceptions) in the end promote them. I have also heard the Inspector that sits on this board is a piece of work, so anyone being skipped over and going before this board, I wish them lots of luck.
