Not happening. I'd be more than shocked if it did. Even if a recruit class goes in there is no greater demand for sergeants until they graduate.

Hairlessape why don't you post as your real name? Zoomaster? Too embarrassed to admit that you were wrong before? Didn't you say the department wasn't going to promote any cops to sgts from the months of Feb to Sept? Obviously that was a wrong statement. Why don't you just admit you have to credible sources, your not on the sgt list, and you probably not even off probation. Did you just graduate the academy and are upset how the senior cops are treating you? Don't worry it will get better.

In Bmoc right now ... all they said was there not sure if the next one will be anytime soon...the instructor didn't look too promising when she said it either but ill keep u guys posted on news I hear...personally I believe it will still be consistant and there will be a class every other month good luck guys

No future classes indefinitely was what I was told this evening.....the following was an excerpt for ny1.com tonite>>>

Ray Kelly showed up at the City Council's Committee on Public Safety today to talk NYPD and it wasn't all about that bullet proof boat. He was also there to talk about the department's budget for the rest of 2011 and for fiscal year 2012. And in order to bring the department into line with the city's expectations the NYPD may have lower its headcount a smidge, or at least not hire any new officers for awhile.

In theory the NYPD is supposed to reach a "peak headcount" of 35,367 officers in 2012 (it reached its highest peak, 40,710 officers, in 2001-2002). But in order to do that the department will need to be able to fund new officers to replace those who leave the force, something the department isn't quite ready to do right now. "We're not certain now," Kelly said yesterday. "We haven't sent out any noticeslet's put it that wayin terms of hiring recruits."

I just talked to someone in BMOC now. He said that the instructors believe that there is a possibility of a june class. If not, then in september. I spoke to the BMOC LT a few days ago and he said that maybe a June class, possibly even a July class if there isn't one in June. There are approximately 39 sgt slots open and they don't want to hold a class until they have 75 slots open.

That number of 39 slots seems low there got to be more. My command alone is short 2 Sgt's.

I don't think it's about how many we need when it comes to Sgts. It's about how many slots the department opens up. We need more cops, but from what I heard, only about 1400 - 1500 recruits are coming in July. We will are still losing tons of manpower due to attrition. The department probably wants x amount of sgts, but are budgeting for y amount, hence the "39" or so slots.

75? How credible is this info...That is a lot of promotions for this time of year. We are nearing the end of the fiscal year....The department usually budgets a large amount of promotions after the first fiscal quarter (September-December). Hope you are right...We would get close to 365 with a few passovers.

A lot of people saying 75 this early. Sounds promising. Most likely it would either be 72 or if they put 45 it would be 42 taking into account the passovers that got made last week that didn't go into bmoc. Hope 75 is true though.

Hearing additional confirmations of 75 to go in 5/30. Finest just came down today, LT exam 10/29. Predictions for list number to be made by then??

Personally, I think conservatively 400 if what some are saying about a smaller 45 class in June (if there is a class in June) and around 75 in September. On the higher end, 450. The number cleared is still at 380. If there is a jump in the number cleared that would definitely be a positive sign that things will be moving quicker.
