Im very optimistic that the 2009 list will be moving faster than what we think, In a matter of 4 months we have gone through 221 names and it looks like its not gonna slow down. I think and im just making my own prediction that by the end of this year we will be up to list number 600. Lots of retirements coming down and promotions to the higher ranks continue. There is also a rise in crime around the city and they might just need to put in another academy class in July....Its all a waiting game.

Any reliable rumors on a march class ?

They started promoting off the 2009 test in November of '10 and if there is a March class that means by the beginning of April they would have promoted close to 300 all in the matter of 5 months. If they stay at that current rate, they'll go through the list in 8 months and of course I'm having REALLY HIGH hopes that they would continue on the way that they've been. Given the recent talks in the news about pension reform, I'm going to assume most people are going to get out when they can which well help move everyone along that much faster. I really find it hard to believe the list will move slow with the amount of eligible retirees coming up. I'm going to say the '09 list will be done by early '12. Any thoughts?

Oh yea, The Department has already lost about 100 Sgts since October to retirement...That is not including the 65 that came down a few weeks ago(Those were October retirees).

Guys I am between 5 and 8 names away I heard from a reliable source who's been pretty on point the past 6 months that approx 67 bodies should be goin in on feb 28th....- personally am not getting excited because I thought I'd be in the last one but if he's right that brings us up to 288....don't quote me on this but I'm just relaying what I've heard best luck to all u...if I hear anything else ill relay it to u I have 3 guys in Bmoc now that are tellin me everything they hear....lata

@90y - I will say this. My source told me the exact same #s 67 going in 2/28. Again, I don't believe it myself. But keep it coming I guess, we'll all find out soon enough.

I think there's a class going very soon. I would back that 2/28 very strongly because I got called to update my transcript couple weeks back and i was told i didn't have a lot of time to do it. Meaning within that same week i got the call i was suppos to do it. 67 lieutenants retired Couple weeks back. So yeah they need sgts.

well if they are promoting 67 they are up to 221 that bring it to 281 I think 293ish is likely to go in with skip overs. My opinion.

so that means the finest if its true will come down btw the 23rd and the 25th.

Does anyone know the filing period for the Lt's exam? If the exam is on October 15th.....when can we expect the filing window to close?

The department is short on Sergeants and a lot of them are scheduled to retire, so that will definitely play in our favor. I personally believe that this list will be exhausted so I think everyone on this list not jammed up or that has all of their educational requirements will get promoted.

With that said, I heard from well placed academy officials that as far as recruitment classes go, there could be a slowdown of them. Officially, they told me that they really don't know how many recruits they will be scheduled to get until the last minute. That trigger is pulled by the Commissioner and the Mayor. However, I expressed to them that I had heard we were going to get two classes this year of about 600 each. They told me that for the next class, "...if we get 250 we'll be lucky". I am seeing evidence that it could be true, but I will hold off on that until I know more.

Now even though we are short on sergeants and I personally believe that our 09 list will be exhausted, I wonder if that could slow up the process of us getting promoted. I don't like stirring the pot and posting any negative news, but I thought it was interesting. Do I personally know? Not at all and I want to be wrong on this. I just want to post what I had heard from people that are in the know. Again, good luck to everyone and if anyone hears anything, good or bad, keep us informed.

If there is a March class then we will be almost half way through with this list. At this pace, which I doubt, we can actually finish this list by November.

I overheard a boss saying the second week of March so im assuming March 7...I also heard 67 people...not a great source, Just overheard from a Lt.

I guess if there was going to be a Feb 28th or March 7th class we would have already picked up chatter..I guess wait for April

My friend in bmoc just told me the instructors said there will be no march class...****
