Large class entering in July

In the paper Bloomberg stated they are putting in a large class in july.

Should speed up the '08 list....which should start the '09 list.

Peace.

1000 cops = 100 sgts. Always good news.

Was just at the medical division. They said there had been a class of 250 ppo's slotted for July. The class was bumped up by 900, making it a class of 1250 recruits. Medical division is pulling double shifts to make sure they reach that number by July. Hopefully, if they keep putting classes of this size, the sgts list will move quickly.

nice math. 900 +250 = 1150

Yeah a graduating class of 900.  150 to leave for another police department with their first year.  200 to be fired after another 2 years because they were perps rushed to be hired and 300 to quit before top pay.  That leaves us with 250. Right where we started.

With the last pay raise and the economy crunch, you actually have more educated and qualified people waiting to be hired.  APD has had a lot of time to investigate the people waiting on the list to be hired.  They seem to be tending to weed out more crap and becomming a little more strict on who they are hiring.  Hopefully this will be the trend of the future.  People graduating college cant find jobs and are realizing that civil service is the way to go in this day and age.  More and more people and taking our test.  NYS civil service requires that we have to have 1 Sgt. to every 8 cops.  This is the only rank which is required to have this minimum so the more cops the city hires the better off we are.  If the city can keep on getting federal money for homeland security, it will hopefully help hire even more cops in the future. For every eight they hire, one more of us gets promoted.

another problem is that APD is full of a sh!tload of civilian investigators as well. these peopel are just like most do nothing PAA's in your respective commands. except in this detail they have some say in hiring future cops. seems a little fugazzi to me. so yes, some sloppy jobs are done when pushing these people through. matter a fact when i was in the academy they were terminating recruits for red flags coming up during their background checks. turns out the white shirts over there were under the gun to fill the class in time. so they told the investigators to rush them thru and investigate during the academy and their probabtionary period. i remember a guy was called out of gym and never came back. and this was before they destroyed the salary with that garbage contract.

MCD-- your rite on the $$$. Plus add with the smart phones, these fresh out of the academy recruits, will be a lil more wiser. Making our job a slight bit better..hopefully they will soon put the patrol guide in the mdts, so the cops will know what to do, by the time we arrive at the job.. Thank goodness for technology n this rugged Economy... Good luck to us all, our time is getting closer.

Now all we need are MDT's in our RMP's and then we will be set....

Peace.
