RE: 2010 January sgt test

All you idiots are forgetting something. Although it hasn't been mentioned in a while, Obama did give NY Federal money (part of the stimulus act) of which a big part of is to be used for law enforcement. The city plans on using that to hire 4,000 more additional police officers over the next few years. This story made the front page of the Daily News shortly after Obama took office which was about a year ago. 1500-2000 is not only realistic but it will most likely happen.

i actually heard that was cancelled and if u remember correctly we never got that money that we thought we were getting...remember the vice president made that speech on how new york wasnt going to receive any money or something like that...i dont remember the details but i do remember it affected the hiring of police which is why this class is now only 112 cops...correct me if im wrong

Last Stop- I read something similar. As a matter of fact, immediately after that announcement, I remember, Kelly complaining that he would actually have to cut the force by a 1000 as opposed to hiring new cops. ( Nobody's getting laid off, just through attrition) I swear in the New Years eve detail there were almost as many bosses as there were cops. There were like 3 Captains on my corner where when I joined we were lucky to see a Capt let alone a lieutenant. I think the force is getting top heavy and with the economy in the crapper, bosses are not retiring like they should. Trust me, this is one of the few times I hope I am proven wrong. I really hope I am an idiot like JUSTWONDERIN is accusing all of us to be. (At least I will be an idiot making more money).

The only way I see us hiring more cops (justifying more SGTS.) is if they go to a totally new pension tier. If that happens, I think we will miraculously find the money for more cops. Otherwise, I am getting comfy where I am.
