If i were at second step detective in 2010- $81,120 with a tentative promotion date at or around July 2010...which step sgt would you be at? $81,326...

Now for the real question...If i get promoted and make $81,326 right out of BMOC, do i go to the next step($98,072) with 1 year in rank or do i have to wait the entire 5 years and stay at $81,326 until my 5th anniversary??

From the SBA Website:

SBA Reaches Agreement to Enhance Salaries for Newly Promoted Sergeants

The SBA reached a tentative agreement to modify our existing collective bargaining agreement with the city to enhance the salary schedule of sergeants promoted after April 1, 2006. This modification will correct all pay disparities between newly promoted sergeants and police officers. In addition to the salary modification, the pilot program for Sick Leave Confinement will be extended to cover eligible members of the SBA. All salary modifications will be fully retroactive. By a vote of 16 to 1 the executive board of the SBA recommended that this contract modification be approved and presented to the entire delegate body. The delegate body of the SBA approved this modification by a vote of 136 to 1 and recommended that this modification be sent to the entire membership for ratification. The terms of the agreement are as follows:

Sick Leave Confinement Policy

Effective the first day of the month following ratification of this contract modification a pilot program will be implemented concerning Department sick leave policy.

The pilot program will provide that eligible employees, who request sick leave for an injury or illness, shall no longer be subject to home visitation and confinement, outside the hours of the employees regularly scheduled tour of duty, except where the convalescence for the injury or illness requires home confinement in the opinion of the Departments Medical Division, after consultation with the employees personal physician.

Ballots will be in the mail by the end of the week.
