Postpone Promotion??

If a class goes in on April, my name should come up within the next class; However I am in the middle of buying a house and other thing, is there a way I can postpone being promoted?

Don't attempt that move... Go in when they call. If anything should come up of great importance... submit a 28. The instructors are pretty cool and you are really are not missing much in BMOC. Don't mess with something you probably worked hard for.

When your number is called... Your going... that's it.   With the way the economy and the city shakes why take the gamble??? In life, Everything usually falls into place, though it might happen all at the same time...it's all good

Best of luck

That's just my opinion.smile

Daisy, what detail are you in that the overtime your making will trump your pay as a boss? I know base salary is not that much of a difference but unless your making 60 hours a month, every month, it shouldn't be a concern. Not to mention overtime is being cut everywhere. Its just a matter of time before guys narcotics, vice, etc. are down to 20 hrs a month. Take the promotion with better base salary, whatever O.T. you can pick up and enjoy your new house.

Thats a great idea, make sure you go to the 14th floor at 1pp and ask ray kelly yourself if he can postopone your promotion until it is more conveninent for youconfuse, im sure he'll even let you pick the date you want.  A word of advice for those who have not been promoted and cant wait, let this braniac continue to think that is a plausible idea, that opens up a spot in bmoc for one of you soon to be sergeants that actually want to be there.

If you're not in the April class then I'm guessing you're talking about a May class? With the way the Dept has been promoting lately I wouldn't get too caught up on the possibility of a May class just yet. you'll be able to take the days off that you need to close on your house and the days there aren't too long, so you'll have evenings to work on your new place. If there is a real issue with getting promoted, then talk to the bosses in BMOC. Buying a house and getting promoted at the same time is stressful and inconvenient but not impossible. And if you postpone your promotion you don't know when the next class will be, you could easily be waiting until August or September (July class would probably be people who just hit 5 years). Do you really want to risk having to wait another 4 or 5 months?
