I'm at top pay, got a 73, w/ veteran points, seniority, PT points I'm probably looking at something like an 81 or something close to that, I'm not really sure. I really don't pay much attention to the promotion process, only that there are some guys I know that passed that are now gone, and some are still sitting around waiting.
When can I expect to be promoted? Doesn't it take like a year or so for the list to come out?
At current salary levels will I be getting a paycut? If so I'm pissed! What are the current pay levels?
Well you Have to wait for the list to come out which can be up to 3 more years ( probably next year or so) then you will see where you stand. Depends what list number and how many people are eliglbe with time and college credits above your list number and how many people the department puts into a class. There is no set amount each class. Could be 20 could be 100 or whatever. There clould be a class every month or no classes for months.
As far as a paycut, the sba is working on it. Will definetly be fixed by the time you get promoted.
hey guys i am going to the protest session on Thursday. i got 69 on this test. I do not remember the questions. i need some advise on how to protest. Just found out my score, im in the same boat as you. I got a 75 plus vet points plus over ten years and medals so im looking at an 85. remember that a lot of people who passed have less than 5yrs on and get next to no points for seniority and no vet points, unless their a vet, so they have only a raw score plus a point or two for medals. It takes a while to get a list number but I dont think it will be as long as people are saying, maybe six months. How many of these people do you think got over a 80? Who knows, if its meant to be than its meant to be. I wish i did a little better but thank god seniority is good for something.
Lucky You. I have no problems with military points. I saved mine when i'll be taking a LT test. However, i dont agree about seniority points. It be better if they actually made people work for these 7 points rather then just give them out. They should just make people earn them by giving out an extra credit question or something. It be more fair.
T on the J has to account for something on this job nowadays. Alot of guys/ gals studied- passed w/ 3 years on, became a house mouse until they get made, and tell you how the job works. This ruins the job. They then get shipped to a busy command and dont know crap. And its so obvious! I love when I pass by the bridges and see the cop in the RMP studying. What is that guy/ gal gonna tell someone like in the 75, 77 about how to handle a heavy job?
UNFORTUNATELY TIME ON THE JOB MEANS NOTHING TODAY. REGARDLESS IF THE SERGEANT HAS 5 YEARS ON 10 YEARS ON OR 25 YEARS ON, AT THE END OF THE DAY THEY ARE THE BOSS AND YOU HAVE TO COMPLY WITH IT. IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT THEN JUST STUDY AND BECOME A BOSS YOUR SELF. I'M SURE YOU DIDN'T COME ON THE JOB AND AUTOMATICALLY KNOW EVERYTHING SO THEY WILL LEARN. IF THE COP WITH 1 YEAR ON OR 3 YEARS ON IS SMART ENOUGH TO STUDY THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT. IT IS ALSO SAD THAT THE COP WITH 3 YEARS ON WILL GET THEIR 28 SIGNED FASTER THAN THE COP WITH 15 YEARS. IT IS JUST HOW THE JOB IS TODAY. SO PRETTY MUCH TIME ON THE JOB ONLY HAS ITS PERKS WHEN IT COMES TO THE EXAMS. SO SAD BUT SO TRUE.
The way I look at it is the sooner you pass and get promoted then god bless you. You have to study and work at it. I wish I gave it a real try earlier in my career. Now that I get the full amount of points for seniority ill take them but remember if it takes you 10.5 years to pass the test like me, then you can have them too. Im sure you would rather pass a little earlier in your career. But anyway ill take my seniority and military points and hopefully it all works out. Best of luck.

What bridges? Im assuming youre talking about the Brooklyn or Willimasburg?
Collaring up and working in a busy house does not make a good boss. Sure it helps when a boss knows what hes doing but treating others with respect, looking out for people, and talking care of your cops isnt something that can be taught in a busy command or in a book. That comes with common sense and being a decent human being.

additional credit will be given for more than 10 years of permanent service in the eligible title, nor will credit
