Id say MOST are lying or can not count? Why anyone would lie is beyond me? one guy i know said he got an 86, and now wont pick up his phone when people call him to find out what happend . Another said they got exactly a 70 on the scantron, but they arent on the list. When people advise them they should sue etc they get bent out of shape and walk away.........dummies!

I absolutly agree with you..... I dont understand why people have to lie about passing the test its not like we arent gonna find out the truth eventually. But i would say i was very worried that i might not be on the list bc i score a 70 as per the scan tron. What happened if i copied an answer down incorrectly on the scan tron and i got a 69 but im happy that wasnt the case.

An inspector told me he used to take the promotional tests and the next week go down to DCAS and for one dollar they would give him a photocopy of his scantron. No idea if they still do this but even if they do, good luck getting anyone down there to go out of their way.

They do still do this and if it isn't busy and you are polite to them they may give it to you on the spot, otherwise they will make you fill out an envelope and they will mail it to you.

I went and got it. It cost a dollar and I was in and out of there in ten minutes. Then I was able to be sure of my score after checking the scantron to the answer key.

I know one person that passed but wasn't on the list. DCAS said she never mailed in her signature on paper allowing DCAS to publish her list number. She called, and they told her she passed, but never mailed it in, and therefore, S.O.L.!

I got copies of my scantron for $1 the Monday after the exam. Did it 3x, with no problems.  A clerk in DCAS told me that they enter all the scantrons in the day of the test.

The situation newbie speaks of is probably a situation a lot of these people who said they passed find themselves in. If you registered for the exam online you still had to mail the confirmation signature card/sheet back to DCAS by a certain date. When registering online there were some pretty explict instructions saying that if the confirmation and signature were not mailed back on time your name would not be on the list if you passed. You could take the test but if your not on the list you were not eligible for promotion. So even if they tried to sue they don't have a leg to stand on.

WHAT CONFIRMATION SIGNATURE CARD? ARE YOU REFERRING TO THE CARD THAT WE ALL RECIEVED VIA MAIL & SIGNED @ THE TESTING LOCATION? I DONT RECALL THERE BEING ANYTHING THAT HAD TO BE PHYSICALLY SIGNED OR MAILED IN WHEN APPLYING ONLINE. IF U ARE REFERRING TO THE ACTUAL APPLICATION PROCESS, MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT IF U APPLY BY MAIL THEN YOU SUBMIT THE APPRPRIATE PAPERWORK. IF YOU APPLY ONLINE, YOU PRETTY MUCH PROVIDE YOUR INFO AND CLICK A TAB THAT SUBSTITUTES FOR YOU APPLYING VIA MAIL. OTHERWISE, WHAT IS THE POINT OF APPLYING ONLINE? CAN SOMEONE PLEASE CLARIFY!

That was my thought exact, why register online if I have to mail some freakin piece of paper back to DCAS anyway. But that what the process was. I remember cuz I was cursing DCAS and my wife was laughing at me. But they didn't give u instructions but the mailing until after you registered and paid.

LATE RISER IS RIGHT. NO WHERE IN THE NOTICE OF EXAMINATION DOES IT STATE THAT THE APPLICATION HAS TO BE SIGNED AND SUBMITTED IF YOU APPLIED ONLINE. ONLY IF U WERE BORN 100 YEARS AGO AND YOU ACTUALLY APPLIED VIA MAILED AND PHYSICALLY SIGNED THE APPLICATION AND PHYSICALLY MAILED IT  DID YOU HAVE TO SUBMIT ANYTHING.  YOU HAD TWO OPTIONS: APPLY ONLINE OR APPLY BY MAIL. IF YOU APPLIED ONLINE YOU FILLED OUT THE SAME APPLICATION THAT YOU WOULD HAVE IF YOU WERE BORN WITH THE GEICO CAVEMEN AND SUBMITTED VIA MAIL.  KILL THIS THREAD.

for the 2008 test if you applied online there was a sheet you had to print out and sign, and mail to dcas within a certain amount of days. maybe the 2009 test they got rid of it?

Now I'm paranoid I don't remember anything about mailing any piece of paper. The only thing I brought was the test notification which I signed at the testing location and gave it to administrator.

If this is true, call DCAS and ask them. I personally don't believe any of this "You pass on the Scantron and name wasn't on the list"

SPOKE TO SOMEONE DOWN @ DCAS; RESPONSE: "WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT SIR" IT WAS EXPLAINED 2 ME THAT WHEN YOU APPLIED ONLINE, ALL NECESSARY PAPERWORKK (WHICH IS ONLY THE APPLICATION AND NOTHING MORE; SEE UPPER RIGHT HAND CORNER OF NOTICE OF EXAMINATION) WOULD BE FILED ELECTRONICALLY IN CONTRAST TO MAILING. GOOD LUCK 2 ALL THAT PASSED. YOU WILL GET MADE!

LAST YEAR someone in my BORO was also talking about  that they had passed the 08 test ,,and then stated ,,nothat because they didnt send in the signature, they apparently werent on the list.no.........im not sure how they would make that up...but maybe a coincidence,,but this year i noticed ,, singing up ONLINE WAS THE ONLY WAY...confuse....i know i looked for THE SIGNATURE when i signed up for the 09 test.AND SAW NOTHING IN THAT REGARDS, IN WHICH APPARENTLY THEY CHANGED IT, SO NO SIGNATURE REQUIRED..so unless the jokesters and business men REALLY WANTED TO MAKE ALOT OF MONEY FOR THE CITYashamed...........WE ARE OK.smile...I HOPE LOLOLOLOL
