Break Down of Scores

Okay this may be off a little, Im not a mathematician, and I know it doesnt equal 671 im off by like 15 or so but I am not counting again. This is raw score without senority/veteran/medals.. Now my friend in BMOC is in the upper 160's, scored a 79. So mathematically they took, or skipped over under 5 years, most everyone 79 and up (minus additional points)  If you take your raw score, add the points your suppossed to have, add yourself to the new group.  You can kind of get an idea if you may be in the next class. Remember, everyone 80 and up should be in BMOC already EXCEPT for those who were screwed out of major senority/veteran points and those ineligible.  Also, are you sure Veteran points are 2.5? They added .05 to all veterans on top of raw score already. I was told only about 8-10% of this list can collect the full 6point senority.
Score----Amount of People
70--------43
71--------77
72--------63
73--------52
74--------93
75--------52
76--------39
77--------51
78--------39
79--------26
80--------22
81--------25
82--------16
83--------14
84--------16
85--------8
86--------8
87--------6
88--------4
90--------3
92--------1
93--------1
*PS- everyone worried about not making enough as a starting Sgt compared to top pay PO- I was given info from employee/labor relations.. once this PBA contract is RATIFIED which should be Sept 26th (purhaps a reason they pushed BMOC graduation to Sept 29th) anyone promoted after 9/26 cannot start at the 5th scale of sergeants pay b/c it would be less. Therefore they will jump to the 3rd scale. Top pay cop is approx 78G after this contract, starting sgt 3rd scale is around 79G.. I know not much of a differnece but the GOOD thing is you will only have to wait 2 years to reach Sgt Top Pay which is upper 90's. You cannot go down the scale. They would have to start us at 3rd scale ONCE PBA CONTRACT is ratified.

Thanks a lot for taking enormous amount of your time to assist all of us over the past couple of days. Would you happen to know how many people have
--more than five years on the job,
--four and half years,
--four years and
--three years

God bless you,

i understand the notice of examination states the points....but at the same time i feel that since we waited so long for this list to come out that they should calculate the points based on the time we have when the list comes out.......am i a bit over my head here?

SGT PAY

Hey I've noticed a bit of confusion on the starting sergeant's pay so I'm posting this link to the sba website it clearly says that if you are a sergeant with five years on the job (not in rank) that you start at $77,230 as of 7/01/08. That is higher than a cops top pay when this contract is ratified. Plus I doubt this city is going to do any of us the favor of letting us reach top pay two years early as has been suggested. Just a thought, let me know if you read this another way but I was looking at it earlier with three sergeants and they all agreed.

RE: Break Down of Scores

my info came straight from labor/employee relations boss. we'll see I guess. I wish we would get the current points as well but it says when you take the test, cause otherwise everyone's points would keep going up as each month goes by waiting to get promoted

burned to explain further

starting pay for sergeant is about 73,000 and with 5 year longevity it brings it to about 77,000.  That is why they say starting sgt pay is 77,000.  This is an important point because when the new pba contract goes into effect top pay cop will be making more than sgt not counting longevity which means they will have to reopen the sgt's steps or give us a raise.

Its not the job doing us a favor its the law..they did it 2 years ago with detectives. Detectives were making more then a starting sgt.. when my boss went from 3rd grade det to sgt, they put him RIGHT at top pay. they have to follow the scales.

You're right. I have to remember not to post at 2 am. The SBA delegate from my command has a meeting next week where they're supposed to find out how their contract is being amended due to the PBAs newest contract. Either way, whether we go to the third step or start off with a whole new pay scale we have to get a raise. It's in every state's municipal law that supervisors have to have a higher base salary than those they supervise. The last link I posted of the SBA chart was from early July before the PBA got our latest contract of four 4's.
The sergeants got a letter last week outlining a tentative contract bump but I haven't seen it yet. If anyone has please post it.

Top pay for a cop would be 76k, minus longevity and all those other things, which means a top pay cop would making 3k more than me.  So either they renegotiate or they bump me up another pay grade, either way im happy.  My delegate has been out lod and th sba site doesnt update very often, so if anyone hears anything feel free to post it.

Does this pay also jump for detectives being promoted to sergeants?

you cant ever make any less or the same if you get promoted...so lets say your a 3rd grade det you would have to go to the next higher pay scale on sgt's which would prob be top pay...unless the SBA quickly re opens and makes starting sgt pay higher then top pay cop

I do believe that from 3 years ago, the way it was is that the starting salary of a sergeant was lower than that of a detective.  So when a detective was promoted, he/she shot up to sgt. top pay.  Now, starting salary for sgt. is higher than starting detective top pay.  So if you are a top paid det. and become sgt. then you keep your current salary.  You can not go down in salary.
